Default F-Type/Range Rover Evoque bluetooth conflict

All with Galaxy S8

Phone paired with 2016 F-Type for over a year and works flawlessly. Recently also acquired a 2017 Range Rover Evoque and on turning on the RR the paired device list on the Galaxy changes from 'Jaguar F-Type' to 'Range Rover Evoque' without doing anything. Although the phone says it is paired with the RR it is not and attempting to pair fails.

Return to the Jaguar and the paired list changes back to 'Jaguar F-Type' and all works fine.

The phone WILL pair with the Evoque but only after deleting the F-Type pairing - and of course the phone will not then work when getting back in the F-Type.

I assume this is JLR using the same Bluetooth module in both cars and this is causing a conflict.

Is there any way around this irritation?

Same phone, same Evoque, but 2017 F-Type, no issue

OK, back at this after a month with zero progress, by me, my very IT savvy son-in-law or the JLR dealer.

We have more information which has really only served to confuse.

I can not get connectivity to both cars from the following devices:

Galaxy S8, Android 7.0, Bluetooth 5.0
Cat S41, Android 7.0, Bluetooth 4.1
iPhone 8
iPhone X

I can get my Galaxy S8 paired with my F-Type to connect to every other JLR car in the dealer's yard that we have tried in the usual way i.e. not scrapping the F-Type pairing on my S8. And just for laughs the JLR technician's Galaxy S6 running Android 7.0 and Bluetooth 4.* can connect to both my cars without problem.

So one set of data (the technicians phone doing OK) suggests problem with the phone and the other set of data (problems with multiple disparate phones) suggests problems with one of the cars.

Although this is in the realm of being just irritating as opposed to a deal breaker it is really getting to the point of my wanting to get it sorted because it should just work and I won't let it beat me.

I'm open to any suggestion short of buying two new cars and a new phone.

I used to have similar problems from time to time with my rangerover vogue and my galaxy s8. Downloaded and installed Bluetooth auto connect which seemed to fix the problem and let galaxy pair properly even though it does occasionally crash.

Try resetting your F-type. Take it to the dealer, ask them to patch infotainment unit and fully reset the car.

Two good ideas I will try sequentially.

I had in fact come to the conclusion that if a car is it fault it is likely to be the F-Type and not the Evoque and I will enquire about a patch.

I'm using a HTC 10 on both MY16 F-Type and MY16 Evoque without problems.

Do both cars have the same looking infotainment system? Your signature says 2017 F-Type, while your initial post said 2016 - does your car have the newer system? I assume the Evoque uses the current infotainment system...

Maybe there is an incompatibility between the older and the current JLR software - in my case both my cars use the old system - that setup works flawlessly.
