Hello Sir, I too was in the same situation as you, Cayman or Jaguar, I drove several Caymans and was about to pull the trigger, then I realized at 6’, 200 pounds the Porsche was just to cramped. I then drove an XKR (X150) and that was it and purchased the Jag. Six months later, I came across the F-Type and it was again night and day over the XKR and jumped on my 15 R. The car is everything I was looking for and then some. I love driving it !

I’ve never owned a Bimmer, but numerous corvettes, Camaro 1LE, and three caddy CTS-V’s and this is my favorite sports car period. Five months of ownership and only 18k miles on the odometer, my car has had zero issues, just smiles.

i took it to the dealer for an oil change yesterday, and several sales, parts and mechanics came out to the bay to look at it. They say it’s not often they see an “R” only v6 models.

The dreaded "related thread" issue rears its ugly head again. Last 2 posts should have been on a recent thread...

Not an issue. I don’t think it can be said enough. For what it is, this car is quite reliable. Once the fuel filler neck, early clutch issues and poor sound system issues were resolved, my car has been rock solid. I wouldn’t trade this car even-up for cars worth substantially more. My MINI was far more problematic in its first five years.

My 2015 R with 33k miles has been as reliable or better than any BMW I have owned in the last 20 years. My 2006 Porsche Cayman S has been the most reliable.

They say in life that you only regret the things that you don't do, not the things that you do. Get an F-Type and enjoy a great motor car.

A word of warning though, not all Jaguar dealers are the same. A bad one (yes I've found one) can spoil your day and enjoyment. Choose based on a recommendation if you can.

Having a choice of dealerships nearby may be one of the only advantages of living near a large metropolitan area that appeals to me.

I went from a e92 335i up to 440 hp to a R 2015. 8000 miles of heavy use and not a single problem!

The 2015R is the best sports car you can buy at any rational price. The 2014S V8 can be tuned the same, making it the best value. An F-Type V8 RWD is just insane fun and the exhaust note blows anything away at a full bore roar. There is nothing like it and never will be again.

The car should still be under warranty, but I for one would be interested in exactly what problems you are having.

And I'll bet that low battery issues (unrecognized) feature prominently in the list. There just aren't a lot of other problems with these cars - and a number of those were solved on newer models - the clutch on the early manual transmission cars, early differential noise issues, 02 sensors and coil issues, early AC vent issues...squeaks are just irritants. Many of the complaints stem from infrequent/insufficient use leading to unnecesary battery replacement (when the fix would have been to use the car more! - or using a CTEK unit).

My 2015 R has 80K miles on it. still under warranty (year 6 and 7)
I've had issues:
AC controller
Shaft assembly
Propeller shaft
Torque converter was reprogrammed recently (down shifts were very aggressive on dynamic mode)
Sticky plastic, which I am getting fixed now (steering, window controller,
Driver window regulator or whatever they call it (window looked wobbly when door is opened)
Super-charger gasket
Fuel rail seal changed
suspension rubber started wearing out for one of the rear suspensions
Blew up on sub-woofer
Radiator changed twice (after getting coolant low msg)
seat mechanism cover broke both sides
Cluster changed after humidity leaked inside the middle screen

If time goes back, I would have gotten a Carrera S instead

Sounds like you have a very crappy service dept. They replace as a rule!

not to mention that my car had to stay at the agent for four months to order parts, etc. some of the problems still persist even after they told me they got fixed

Ahmad, have you had the car since new? It sounds as though the car has been driven pretty hard.

No, i got it used.
but aren't these machines supposed to be driven hard? which could justify the mechanical issues

Having reread your list of issues (which shows several almost unique events - driveshaft? Wobbly window glass? Humidity in middle screen? Was the car left top down in rain?...), i very strongly suspect that the previous owner(s)/drivers treated the car very badly, perhaps abusively. How many cases of cracked seat trim have been noted? AC controller failure (not sure what that even refers to)? ....
There is a difference between a car being "driven hard" and a car being abused (see any Top Gear episode for examples)...it may well be that the issues with your car are not caused by unusual treatment, but...
