I have definitely considered it. My problem is that I really, really wanted to stay at no more than $60k out the door. With a warranty, taxes, etc that would be well over what I want to spend on a weekend play toy. Then again, what do all the young kids say these days......Oh, yeah. YOLO.

There would also be the huge hassle of getting it titled in my state which I haven't explored quite yet.

Quick question for those of you with an R. Is it too loud to sneak out of your development to go to work at 6am? I don't want to be inconsiderate and it seems like the thing is pretty darn loud.

I had an XF-R and also wanted a 2 door that sounded and looked great. R performance was also what I was chasing and I wound up with this amazing 650 HP beast!

(apologies it's on a Jag forum)

Start-up is loud until you select a gear, mine is garaged in a neighborhood, after 9pm and early morning i keep the door closed to start and drive it in "normal" mode until out of the neighborhood. Sounds like door might not be an option for you... its probably not too big a deal but not 100% sure of your exact situation.

She will definitely be garaged so leaving the door down wouldn't be an issue. Might wake up my wife, but she'll get over it.

To bad there isn't an "I'm leaving early for work and don't want to be a ***** like that guy that cuts his grass at 6:30am on Saturday" mode.

I start mine with the garage door closed, then quickly open it. Yes, there are things that could go wrong with this plan, but I am still nimble enough to turn off the car if the garage door fails!

Batteries can test as good but fail a load test; batteries that have sat unused may never be brought to full charge; new batteries must be considered to be partially discharged until the owner charges the battery fully. The clerk behind the counter will always say the battery is fully charged; it almost certainly will not be. And infrequent use especially when combined with short trips will guarantee that the battery never reaches full charge and will also guarantee further problems (see above).

An F-Type with a fully charged battery is a very happy car; and there is no car like a happy F-Type!
I say this as a recovering BMW owner.
Sorry to say but you are incorrect about Dealers. When a car first comes in with warning lights, the Tech first reads codes and then does a complete Battery test, which includes a load test on Jaguar's special charger/tester.
A printout of this test has to be attached to the repair order or the Tech does not get paid.

Don't know why I heard development and that equated in my head to no garage ha-ha, so yeah I think if you fire 'er up with the door closed you should be good. None of my neighbors have complained...... yet

FWIW - F Types aren't that common. If you have a strong reference for model, age, colour and looking for a good price then you need a national search. Will give you much more options

I bought mine from the opposite coast - transported over and easy to title and register. Not a hassle. Would do it again for the right car!

Why not explore pricing with the out of state one you like?

I've been doing nationwide searches. It would definitely be easier to find one closer to my house, but I don't mind flying somewhere and bringing it back or having it shipped. I don't know that I'd want to do a 2,800 mile road trip back though.

I've been thinking about it and I might just go with the S model. Although the R I'm sure would be incredible, but I'd probably get into trouble with that thing pretty quickly and the S would save me some money at the same time.

Yes, that is the ideal procedure, the logical procedure, and some dealers do indeed follow it (mine included). But sadly, we have had many reports on these forums which indicate that it is not the norm of practice.
It has taken some forum members a good deal of effort to convince their dealers to eliminate the battery as cause.
On a positive note, some years ago I bought a gorgeous XK turned in by the previous owner who was disturbed by the random and multiple warning lights. The dealer techs, my dealer techs, were right on the ball. The shop work order noted the complaint; the service advisor's comment on the work order was quite simply: "battery?" - and indeed that is exactly what it was. A new, fully charged battery and the car was mine, and because it lived the rest of its years with me on a CTEK unit when not in use, the battery lasted 8 years, with no issues at all.

Wow, you are all too kind, I also live in a quiet private development, but my next door neighbors have kids who make lots of noise in the pool, so for the couple days a month I go into the office, the R is wide open and I always shift manually to make sure to alert anyone walking that a car is nearby. Cant be too safe, especially when it’s still dark out.

The R experience is worth it! It's not "THAT" loud or fast - if I were you I'd seriously consider it. The fun factor is off the charts. Otherwise, 6 months in on the S you'll be second guessing yourself and wanting a better experience.

Do all S models have the dynamic suspension, or was that an option?

Also, if it has the backup camera, that means that it has the parking sensors as well, correct? It says it's a 2016 with blind spot monitoring, a backup camera and parking sensors, but I can't see the sensors in the pictures. Unless they are buried in the black trim? I'm used to seeing the little circles in the bumper on most cars.

And does anyone know if any of the models have cooled seats, or are they only heated? Thanks!

In 2016 most what became options in later years was standard on S cars.

Here are F-type brochures, so you can see what was standard vs. optional.

I own a CTEK charger and am hesitant to wire it to the terminals so I use the clips. I saw that CTEK has a cig lighter plug. Do you know if they will work on the F-Type? Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still shopping. Do all 2015 - 2016 run into the sticky button issues, or is it just some of them? I've been steering clear of them in my searches, but I was thinking maybe if the car I find doesn't have those issues yet, then they won't develop.

The other issue I'm having revolves around the warranty when purchasing a non-CPO. From my reading Carmax has a great warranty, but that doesn't leave me many options. CPO or Carmax.
