Benz all day on this one, the only car i like the rear better then my F-type. Every Benz i have own all the way down to the C230 has been a quality machine. Not negative towards the F-Type i just love THAT car.

Not to mention cost of ownership. Particularly when purchased used.

And then there's the all-wheel-drive, all-aluminum construction, for winter enjoyment, too.
Agreed. Love my V-8 R vert. Got it for a bargain in 18 as a brand new 17. I'll give up 25 hp of the SVR & save some serious $. GT-C pricing was way too much...

I'm sorry but I've just got to weigh in with my negativity on this one. I've only owned one Mercedes and that was a new 2013 C250 Sport which i kept for 7 months, and 7 months only because I had to wait until my new special order XF came in--worst new car I ever owned, bar none. In my opinion it was total garbage inside and out. Furthermore, after I traded the XF in on a new 2015 Ghibli I was the unfortunate recipient of multiple Mercs because the Mas spent half its life in the dealer's service department; all of those Mercs were total garbage as well, not to mention the lack of style and functionality.
There, I vented. I'll crawl back in my hole now. To each his own.

I agree the tranny on SLK55 was a weak spot and I thought LSD was as well.We have a '17 Ghibli with no problems, and our early '14 had typical new model stuff, stranger than usual because you know Italy. I don't know where AMG GT C verts are dropping, searched last night and $140k seems typical asking for used '18.

Coming from an owner of both brands and trim levels.

Jag SVR, hands down IMO. Looks better, sounds better, faster in a straight line and has way more personality! AMG if you're looking for fastest lap time and better fit and finish, but by know means is the SVR terrible.

Look at how close this "subjective" review is here...AND THIS IS AGAINST THE "R". Clearly he enjoys driving the F-Type more....just listen to his reaction. At the end of the day, isn't that what its all about?
AND..The SVR, being lighter, quicker, nicer interior...just better in every way then the R, most likely would be chosen.

This isn't the first comment I've read on here about F-Type fit and finish and maybe I've finally ended up on the clean end of the stick, but mine is flawless in both regards. After eight months of ownership and a personality as OCD/**** as any, I can not find anything to grouse about. And that disappoints me to no end--I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.

In terms of interior fit and finish, while the SVR is very, very nice, I don't know how anyone could compare it to the AMG GT's interior.

The first thing that stands out is the touchscreen. It looks like a complete after thought, as if someone said "Well, let's just use some velcro and stick an iPad on the dash.

+1. I also thought that was an iPad mounted on the AMG dash.

While it might look tacked on, it brings about even another aspect of the car. Infotainment system. I think we can all agree on the winner there.

Nobody said "completely different", however, the enhancements do make it better. Love the R as well, almost bought it, and probably would over the AMG...but if you're pushing it it as hard as I do, the SVR is without a doubt my choice.

I hate the word "infotainment." It's for millenials who can't stand driving so instead of a car they want a big stupid phone to feed their ADD.

Entertainment, absolutely. Information, none. See how that's not infotainment?

Sound from the rear, view out the windshield and a select number of gauges on the dash is more than enough infotainment for me.
