Talking Finally!!!

Good Evening Everyone,
I have been following this forum for quite some time now. Finally, on July 28th, I was blessed with the opportunity to bring home a 2016 F Type R! I traded in my 2008 Lexus ISF and even though I loved that car, the F Type cannot be described in words. Such an exhilarating drive and unparalleled performance.
The car I picked up is Ultimate Black ( I am a big white color fan) with the Extended Red Leather Package, Carbon Fiber Trim Blade Wheels, Heated Front Windshield and Vision Pack R.
There was a little problem though. After I brought the car home, the Check Engine Light came on and the car started to randomly shut off at times. (Has this happened to anyone/Possible causes/Possible remedies?) Now the car is back at the dealership.
I got an update today stating that they replaced a fuel pressure sensor or something like that and ran it through a few test. The car kept passing/failing the test so they have to contact Jaguar's support line again.
Regardless, the car is still amazing. Hopefully they can resolve the issue soon!
I look forward to meeting/hearing from a lot of you fellow owners soon and thank you all for all the advice and information.

While the dealer will sort it out under warranty, what you describe is typical old fuel issue. My suggestion would be to drain and refill tank with fresh gas and injector cleaner additive.

Or...they're still sourcing the sensors from Lucas.

No matter how many pics I've seen of the F type, I always like seeing another especially from new owners on here. Photos please!

So I got an update today from Jaguar. Jaguar stated that they would have to breakdown the whole engine in order to replace the part that is actually at fault. Instead of breaking down the whole engine, Jaguar wants to replace the engine and get me a whole new one straight from the factory. They ordered a new one from the UK and it is going to take 3 weeks to get here . I don't know how I feel about this but it is what it is.

I'd probably want more info. I can recall just a couple of engine replacements reported here over the past 3+ years. But, it happens.

Hmmm, seems like some additional consideration from JLR is in order for your troubles.

So far they have offered to make my first month payment, give me free rubber weather mats and an XJL as a loaner instead of the Discovery. Do you think it is right of me to ask them for some sort of consolation for what has happened? I mean the car only has 105 miles on it and I only had the ability to drive it for one night. If so, what do you think it should be?

I think I would just ask for a replacement...I'm sure JLR Corporate and the dealer could work something out. Their offer to handle the month's payment when you're without it for three weeks is nice but....

Something just doesn't line up. The CEL light coming on, engine randomly shutting down, no strange engine noises: This is an electrical or sensor issue, not a crack open the engine casing issue. I would ask for a detailed diagnosis.

Wow, a new engine .. or maybe even a replacement car.. it was a 2016 I believe you said.

Not bad considering the car seems to have sat on the lot for quite awhile and now you are getting a fresh engine as a minimum.

Unfortunate about the hassle, however it should be resolved shortly. I would however be curious as to what is wrong that would cause you them to scrap the whole engine... maybe they want it returned in one piece to the factory.
Lawrence.

The car has 105 miles. His engine was new anyways. Thats not a bonanza for him. Get what you can, and not floor mats.

Making a payment for the time you haven't had the car, a nice loaner, and some floor mats seems like a joke. They need to go above and beyond to make this right. That isn't even close to acceptable IMO.

I 100% agree. Mats are lowball first offer. They want to see if they got a sucker. Get a better offer, but don't go to nuclear (lawyers and lemon law) or they will circle the wagons and will refuse to do anything.

First - get everything in writing. "Told you over the phone" is not good enough. You are entitled to an "invoice" disclosing all their findings up to date. Get that right away before you do anything else.

When negotiating, at the very least I'd ask for PDI fees to be reimbursed - the dealer supposed to inspect the car and ensure the car is fully operational when delivered. You have a clear case that this wasn't done, so you are entitled to a refund. I'd also ask for an extended warranty (if you plan to own the car past factory warranty), as you have a case that it is flawed on delivery. Waved monthly fees (until it is fixed, not just first month) and comparable loaner is given.
