Default First Mods Done No Red Brakes On Firesand Metalic!

My 2014 F-Type is the new orange - Firesand Metalic and the red brake calipers clash with the orange color - so we matched the Jaguar paint code (EAT) and painted the brake calipers orange to match. Looks much better. The red taillights also clash so we blacked them out (legal as long as the taillight can be seen from 200 feet away when engaged) and the carbon fiber hood cover arrived. One thing to note is that it doesn't say "supercharged" on it the way the standard engine cover does, but it is very sexy and very lightweight.

I am taking some serious pics of the finished product later this weekend. But here is the work in progress.

The car continues to stop traffic everywhere I go.

Ooooo, ooooo, where?

I didn't see you at last week's C&C. I brought the Bentley, my brother brought his Corvette GS. As far as Jags, there were only a couple of XK8s.

Scott, i am looking forward to the pictures.

BTW, stopped at Jaguar yesterday for some touch up paint and they had a Firesand Orange V8S parked outside. I can see why it steals everyone's attention.

I really like your car but honestly, I'm not a fan of the blacked out lights. Too many O-G's and ricers around here do that and I think its a potential safety hazard in the late afternoons when the sun is low in the West and you are driving East. It is especially hard to see them in that situation, and most people are so distracted while driving these days...texting and what not.

I would really hate for someone to rear end that beauty because they didnt see your brakes until it was too late...its just not worth it to me.

Thanks for sharing your opinion - the lights have to be visible in daylight at 200 feet. Mine are visible at 400 feet. It's actually a light coat.

Yeah you mentioned that rule...I wonder what it is here in Houston...some of the cars out here are just asking to get rear-ended by a distracted driver. I drive home a certain route sometimes and it is heading due East at around 6pm...with the sun hitting the back of the black outs, it is much harder to see the tail lights than any other car. You can still see them, sure, but it isnt bright RED, like the car saying STOP!

Enjoy the F-Type! You have a really nice car.

Are you the same Scott Bourne who wrote HDR photo guide book?

LOL I didn't buy it with your color preference in mind. And yes I wrote that book with Rich Harrington.

I know ... had to say that, since I went to A&M.

Good work. I took a look at your blog as well. The bird shots are awesome! Love the mirrored shot with the cranes. I had a similar type shot @ Crissy field, and it took me 10 min to maneuver around the crane to get it right, and it still was not as good as yours.

Default You have a good eye

Car looks much better. Orange is tricky, clashes hard with red as you say.

Good job!

where did you get the black hood decal? I've seen silver and gray.

Oops, just got the scoop on Scott Bourne...

My kindred spirit.

Texas state inspection also requires the built in reflector to be visible. If it did not come factory with dark lenses then it is technically a violation. I know this from being pulled over in my other car so many times.

Note that this is a 3 year-old thread, and most of the original participants aren't around here anymore.

Note that 3 years is the time interval since some Forum members haven't cleaned underneath their rear spoiler. I'll remind you in 3 years and please remind me to never be the car in back of you (at least until you clean it). Come to think of it...I never want to be in the back of anyone. I'll make note of that.

The decal was custom made. If you search through Scott's other post you find his explanation of how he did it.

Actually here...

Jaguar F-Type Hood Decal Kit - T2R5503LBN T2R5503MEN

You can get this in any color your heart desires!

I kinda wish Scott Bourne was still around, But three years ago I was putzing around in an CL63. I did some research into the archives and saw the post that pissed him off and took him over the edge...

Didn't seem like a whole lot but i liked his boxer like spirit. If he ever returns, I'd have his back!
