Default First Time Owner- Jaguar F Type R Coupe Pics and Questions

The standard first post requires a pic(s) of my car and salute to my fellow members. This is my first Jaguar ever and I have been a long time German owner of nicer cars (8 AMG's, 6 M's, 5 Porsches, 3 Audis) and few choice other performers (GTR comes to mind). After completing two aggressive test drives with the R Coupe I knew I had to have this machine. I am utterly impressed with the driveability of the car coupled with its amazing exhaust symphony. The chassis feedback at higher speeds and turns is incredible and RWD gives me the fun back which I don't always have with some of my other rides.

Thank you for having me here; I always have found forums a great place to share ownership experiences, ask questions, share pictures, and just have a good time.

A few questions and I only briefly went through the owners manual because..... I just wanted to drive.

1. Is there a place to see current oil temps while driving? I only have the coolant temp on the screen.

2. Has anyone driven their car in DSCTrac? I have driven the car in Dynamic mode with DSC on but saw that I can go to DSCTrac or even DSC off. Any power/tq freed up here as I understand the protection nannies will be alleviated?

3. Any cool ownership tricks or things a lazy person like myself might have missed since I didn't go thru the manual in detail?

4. Lowering, anyone considering or done? The car sits ok IMHO but I might like it lower but am worried about the shocks becoming too bouncy.

5. Spacers, anyone considering or done? There is a slight gap, more rear pronounced and because I really like the wheels I might see about some 5x108 spacers in 10mm setup.

I know I'll have more as I only got the car yesterday but thanks in advance for helping me out. Here are some pics pre tint at the dealer and then right before the 20% went on.

The options on the car are: Vision Pack 3, Tornado Wheels in Black, Black Pack 3, Panoramic Glass Roof, Power Lift Gate. The Polaris White has the all black leather interior and it was a car I found on the ground (no order).

Please post up some pics with your tint in place,I'm thinking about going 30% like all my other cars but may switch to 20% after seeing yours...

Thank you for the kind words. I have my car sitting outside right now soaking up some sun to let the tint cure so I cell phone snapped this. Its very light inside the car with the 3M tint my guy uses but more dark looking in:

Congrats on the purchase and welcome, you are going to love this car!

I have a some thoughts on a few of your questions:

1. Oil guage - I haven't found a guage tracking pressure or temp.
2. DSCTrac - Let's you have more slip angle reigning things in. Doesn't free up power/tq as I understand it.
3. Lowering - Check out this threat started by a UK based vendor. Agree with you that the car could use 10 mm spacer in rear. Like you, I don't want to ruin the ride but a 1/2" to 3/4" drop would be nice. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...h-drop-120070/.

Enjoy the car!

Thanks for the info. I think Ill run DSCTrac for a bit and push the car to learn its relative limits to my driving style. I definitely have enjoyed the first day and have been ripping it rather aggressively. I did see that thread in a search and via google the only springs I've found are the H&R springs which share the same part number with the V8 Type S Vert as well. I might wait and see if a less aggressive spring comes out or pull the trigger and see if I like it. I can always revert back to stock I guess if I want to deal with the time and double alignments and re-install.

Thanks for taking the time to post that Vic,it looks about as dark as I figured but since my guy uses 3M too,I know looking out is no problem.

I live in Nor Cal and getting hassled over tint can happen here more frequently than in So Cal so that could become an issue...but all my other DD's have 30% on them and so far,no issues.

Did you get your roof done as well? Some here said it get's a bit hot without it and the shade open...I decided not to opt for that option plus here in the fog land we live in right near the bay,it never really gets too hot.

If you can get a chance to post better pictures later,I'd appreciate that.

On lowering the car,my only concern for you would be the ride quality with your 20" wheels...unless the new springs were progressive and didn't make the ride too harsh.

Thank you members for all the kind posts/words.... I just ordered the H&R springs and will test them out to see if they are ok with the stock shocks. My roads are fine so its more about the compression of the shocks.

Just did a quick dyno with 147 miles, on a DynoDynamic lower reader it pulled 447 stock peak hp with a nice curve and little over 400 tq. I did a shelf tune and gained 35 wheel hp and about 40 wheel tq thru the usable rpm ranges (3k to 6K). The throttle response was improved further and I can definitely feel the gains.

With the H&R drop the gap should be circa this--- Perrrrrfect. I still cant understand why I can't get an oil temp readout or check the psi in the tires WHILE driving.... hummmmmm

Thanks vic55, look forward to seeing pics with the H&R springs. I noticed the website states a 1.2" drop, will be good to see what you find when installed on your ride.

Yes I saw the 1.2 also, which has my slightly worried that's it too much but I am hoping the dampeners are strong.

I have known the owner since 2004 when he was at Powerchip and have trusted him with my cars since and many had multiple tuning upgrades done to them. Like all tuners there will be negative feedback but I can't think of one moment where OE let me down. I think OE started up in 2008 or 2009 but I have always just dealt with Jeremy the owner. The gains are always tangible and I usually ask for a more intermediate tune since I don't want to push the limits. He is very well known in the Benz community and does a lot of tuning overseas also especially in the UAE.

Some cars he has tuned for me:

2004 E55 (several tunes)
2005 CL65 (several tunes)
2007 M6 (several tunes)
2007 Porsche Turbo (a lot of tunes LOL)
2009 M3 (several tunes)
2010 E63
2011 Porsche Turbo PDK
2012 CLS63TT (several tunes)
2012 E63 Wagon (several tunes0
2012 C63 Black Series (still have car/same tune awesome)
2012 Audi R8 V10 (still have)
2015 Jaguar F Type R Coupe

He didn't have a tune for my GTR when I got it back in 2009 but he does of course now and is working on a tune for my Audi RS7. GIAC did my tune on the Turbo S.

Good to know about the tune. Awesome stuff! However it makes it seem like the ZF gearbox is definitely eating up a lot of ponies sending power to the rear no?

Thanks Vic....there is no stronger endorsement you can give than to send 12 cars into them, so I'm convinced!
