Flames from exhaust
Having just read the interesting VAP exhaust thread one thing occurred to me, which is why there seems to be no visible evidence of unburnt fuel out the back of our cars when there’s more audible evidence than is normal.
In years gone by I built a few cars that would pop and bang on the overrun, but never as extreme as my F. I did a mini moke with a 1275gt engine and LCB manifold. If run a touch rich it would make massive flashes after dark which must’ve been flames, and a Renault5 GT turbo that did the same. Does anybody have an exhaust that flames or any idea why it makes the sound without the lights? I know it’s childish but it can’t be just me that would find this amusing...

After extended high RPM pulls, mine will flame 6"/8" for a few seconds. I do have video of it someplace. But I also have my tune (vap) set to dump fuel for the longest duration possible. Maybe Stewart can chime in alittle on this. Our exhausts are also narrow compared to many and have a high velocity so flames are short lived and harder to ignite.

Okay, first off, please find that video that sounds bad-f'ing-***, and second When my Cats were blowing out the first time, My friends would tell me the car would shoot flames occasionally on the large overrun, when I was tapping the throttle and only off redline pulls. But then again my cats were on their way out.
