Flapping Cubby 2017 f-type
I just purchased a 2017 F-Type Convertible base last week. Love the car.
I have noticed a couple of things that seem off. I'd love to know if anyone else has had these issues, and what they did to resolve them.
1. Cubby doesn't open. The cubby itself does not seem to open. The manual shows a compartment that simply doesn't exist in my car. Anyone know if it's supposed to be like that?
2. Flapping cubby area. At speed and with the roof down, the cubby area seems to become undone and starts to rattle. I jammed my phone on the gap between the cubby and the center console (forcing it to close properly) and it seems to have fixed it. Is this something that is likely to likely to come back (read: needs to be fixed)?
3. Battery Light. Most mornings the low battery indicator is on before I start the car. It immediately goes away and doesn't return until the following day. Anyone else had this issue?
4. Rearview mirror. I looked at the online manual and it shows homelink buttons on the mirror. Mine doesn't have any of those pictures. Is it supposed to have them?
Thanks for reading my post. I'm looking forward to being an active member on this forum.

On 1. It was changed throughout production many times.
On 2. There was a recall of evap canister something something that had dealers go there. Probably not attached properly back after recall was completed. Nothing should flap.
On 3. There is an issue with power control module and OBD readers. The car won't shut down correctly in such cases. The cure is to fully disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to cause reset.
On 4. Depending on options - most US cars, except maybe 4-cyl base should have it.

1. Where is this cubby you are talking about?
4. You’ll only have the 3 button remote mirror if your car has the optional convenience package.

1. I'm assuming he means the storage compartment between the seat backs.
On our heavily-optioned car, it is a lockable storage compartment. (We have the Homelink in the mirror, too)

Lockable stowage, I.e. cubby, was an option, not all cars had it. Lance, it’s the small storage area between the seats, behind the armrest, on convertibles.

I'm surprised they didn't at least provide an open cubby box for the base vert like they did on all the coupes.
Regarding #4…don’t be surprised that your car is lacking the home link mirror. My 2018 had every option boxed checked…minus the garage door opener lol (I purchased the car used). Easy enough to fix by swapping out mirrors…however I did lose the auto high beam function…which I always had turned off anyway.
Homelink is another Jaguar special ($300) add-on option that other manufacturers include standard.
We do not have a "cubby" on our 2021 vert, though did see it on a 2017 model.
We have a net "pocket" instead of the cubby- pretty useless and in a very awkward position for the driver to use.

Dean: if you have an Iphone (or Andoid phone) with or without Carplay you can purchase an Ekyro remote garage door opener ( $30 from Amazon).
10 minutes to fit and you can have Siri (or whoever the Android lady is) open and close your garage door.
I actually have Homelink but just love being able to have Siri open the door before I even get close to my house and then I just roll right into the garage.
