Fog light switch
Frank here my16 f type s, I know I have a fog light switch next to my hood opener but didn’t know what lights it controlled. Today I checked it out and after a bit I understood the application. In the rain or fog or wherever you want some rear illumination you have two extra red lights in the rear to hopefully protect from being rear ended. As the Brits say BRILLIANT.

Yes. Took me a bit to figure it out but then I remembered my SAAB had a similar set up as did an old Volvo I had. The Volvo only had one light on the drivers side of the rear deck which I found odd.
I think it's a legal requirement in Europe, but I'm not certain. I also think that it's only required on one side, but that's digging into the memory banks from three decades ago so is information of dubious value.
Only three decades? My trip down memory lane is almost five decades old, having my 1972 Pontiac Firebird Formula, purchased by my dad in 1974, (much like the one I’ve attached, although I bought classic 5-spoke Crager chrome wheels, which also had the raised solid white lettered tires) and attaching two rectangular shaped fog lights which I mounted under the front fascia. In amber to match the car. At the age of 18, and on the streets of Brooklyn, NY,—at the time, it was the bomb—that was one sweet ride!

They’re talking rear fogs, not front.
Fog of memory U.

My first car was a '68 Volvo 122S, and I also put front fog lights on it, also rectangular, also amber. It was a good car, but not exactly the envy of the High School.
Memory Lane goes farther back for me, but it was during the 80s that I had a specialty shop (Saab) and would occasionally get non-USA parts, mostly lights and lenses.

Was it the trendy 105E with the raked rear screen? Mine was a 100E Ford Prefect (of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fame!).
I’ve come a long way, baby!
