any one know where I can find std forged pistons only for the aj133 sc for my ftype
i talked to vap to ask if they can fly sell me the pistons but they said we sell only the full set
here in france its difficult to find someone to do them and the only one I found asked 7000 euro for only pistons
any source or advice will be good

euroamp are not forged pistons and its Chinese made. I wouldn't risk the engine with untested stuff

That is currently your only option.

Just curious, but why would you not do both?

 

because of price mate. why do both knowing that originals are also forged?

I think if I were wanting to forge the internals of the engine, I would want the pistons and rods that were engineered to work together. I cannot comment about the OEM components being forged, however I can comment from prior experience with @VelocityAP_Chris that they go to great lengths to R&D parts and products that will keep their brand intact. Just from looking at the design of their rods versus OEM, you can see the difference in design. Also knowing what some of these AJ133 motors look like when not properly maintained and what happens when the rods go, I think if I were going to invest in forging the internals, I am going to do it right. But that is just me.

You are right, the cost is high and I do not have the budget to do that, so I won't be, but if that is something you are looking to upgrade, why not do it once and do it right, while already in there. Just one persons opinion and you know what they say about that.... LOL

even vap conrod can break if engine poor maintained same piston designe but forged will work without any problem
here in france i am paying 4000E only to sleeve engine and 4000 other euros for different parts all genuine including 8 injectors
I can't put more 6700 dollars and pay 2000 tax for only piston and conrods to came from usa
to know the engine was very good maintained and have only 50000 km so 3X000 milles
problem was 1 injector that stay open and damaged one cylinder

 

This maybe too late for OP's project, but for anyone in the market for just forged pistons, you can order them from Mahle. I just pulled the trigger on a set today.

They stil have @davetibbs order on file and you can order them standard size or bigger if you are boring the cylinders. Price for a set of 8 is $1,800 and 10-12 weeks and includes new rings.
