Front tyre rubbing on the inside
Hi guys!
So I just bought a used F Type R from the dealership here in Qatar... Would've loved to buy a new one, but at $150k, and at the rate they depreciate it made no sense.
After a week's delay with the Jaguar inspection, I picked up the car, and I noticed that when I lean towards the right while driving at around 80km/ph or higher one of the wheels scrapes against something. It only happens when I turn the steering wheel to the right, otherwise it's perfectly fine.
I took it in today and went for a test drive, and the guy felt and heard the same things I did, but after lifting the car we couldn't spot any signs as to what was wrong with it... I was wondering if any of you guys had the same issue or had an idea as to what it could be?
Thanks in advance!

No, definitely not lowered... the car was basically brought in by the showroom to be used as a marketing tool during various events, like the Golf and Tennis Opens etc, so it never actually had an owner before me per se, so it still has OEM everything...
I'd suggest posting pictures from the several angles. They may give us a clue.
It could be as simple as someone putting spacers on it that are too wide. Aftermarket wheels could also have the wrong offsets causing rubbing.
It could also be a loose fender well liner.

Haha I knew I should've taken some pictures!
I'm taking it in next week or the week after, so I'll definitely ask them to take some pictures, especially if they find the problem for other people's reference.
Could be the inner fender well, but the issue is that the problem only pops up when on the move and over a certain speed, so when we inspected it as it was stationary it didn't seem like anything was touching it... even the technician was confused by it... he told me to take it to Jaguar's main branch for a closer look

If one fender well liner is missing a fastener or two, you might only hear it when that corner is compressed more by cornering at higher speeds. You wouldn't necessarily see anything obvious without inspecting all the fasteners and ensuring it's mounted in the proper position.
The fact that you're only hearing it on one front corner and when turning at higher speeds leads me to suspect something like that. At any rate, it should be a very simple fix.

Thanks so much man, I'll be sure to mention that to them when I take it in as a potential issue
And I'll ask them to give me full details in case anyone else comes up with the same problem

I think you're the first to report such an issue in the couple of years I've been hanging out here.
Last thought, which may sound silly, but check the lug nuts on that corner to make sure they are properly torqued.

Perfect, will do... and yeah, I've had my bad luck with awkward car problems over the years, and which is why I finally shifted over from American muscle to a hopefully much more refined brand
Don't know if it's possible to have a dragging brake that's dependent on speed and steering wheel position. I had one dragging all the time, but a hard stop from moderate speed took care of it.
Let us know what it turns out to be. Good luck!

Wouldn't that trigger some sort of warning light? I'll give that a shot tomorrow on an empty road (was stuck in 3 hours of traffic all day)...
The worst thing about it is I get the same feeling in my gut as when someone scratches on a blackboard :P it hurts my soul

You say it occurs during right hand sweeping turns. Can you tell what corner of the car the noise is coming from? If turning right, the sound should be coming from the left side.
Does it sound like metal or plastic/rubber scraping?

I can't seem to pinpoint the sound exactly, but it feels more of a rubbery kind of thing... and I'm still not sure which side it's coming from, but it feels like it more from the right side...
The other thing is it isn't on a full turn or anything, it's just slight rights somehow... when I park it and turn the wheel left and right, absolutely nothing happens

Never during acceleration or braking, but pops up at speeds of 80kmph or above... I haven't gone faster than around 120 on a right turn worried that the tyre may pop since I don't know what the problem is yet
I have read on another F-type forum that someone (including myself) have experienced a high pitch noise when driving above certain speeds. One of them put out a video where you can hear the sound:

This guy experience it at "motorway speeds" (probabely a bit over), and I experience the exact same noise at speeds above ~ 140 mph (German autobahn).
Some suggests it might be a loose retaining clip somewhere in the instrument cluster or the interior light trim or the interior Mirror - that cause it to vibrate horribly at higher speed.
Just a suggestion....?

I get that same squeal in all my cars ................ strangely though, it only happens when my wife is in the car - she on the other hand hasn't been able to hear it at all ..... Strange !!!
