Fuel indication
Hi. I just bought a 2016 F-Type and have noted a problem with the kilometers "to go" indication. I filled up this morning, and the percentage indicated 100%. So that part seems ok. However, the kilometers to go only showed 320.1 km. At 10 kilometers per 100ks it should have read 700km to the next fill. Or thereabouts
To me it sounds like the tank sender is correct and it is the calculation in the computer is wonky. Has anyone else had this issue?
Cheers

I think the unit uses PRIOR Litre per Kilometer to calculate what kind of gas consumption you are going to have. You say you just bought this car...perhaps a few tankfuls in will allow it to recalibrate using your driving style and habits?
It also depends on condition of the car's engine, clean/used oil, tires and tire pressure as well as the type of gas and outside temperature.
I went from JLR dealer oil to Liqui-Moly and my car's data screen now shows me that I'm getting 27-29 mpg ( 27 mpg = 8.71 l/100km)

As Valerie pointed out, the range is an estimate based on how the car has been driven. If you've just picked it up it may have been used for test drives from cold, which kills the fuel consumption, so best to drive it and see what sort of adjustments it makes. My range, mainly with short journeys, varies from high 200s to mid 300s depending on what I've been doing with it.
I would have thought that the "mileage to go" would be based on the quantity left in the tank divided by the fuel consumption.
Perhaps Jaguar do it differently. I did notice on my short trip from the gas station that the mileage to run was climbing, not going down as it should.
Weird. Perhaps I need to use a few tanks through it, (not hard) and see if it starts to behave itself.
Thanks scm

Enjoy your "few tanks"!
Yes, that is what may happen. My 2013 Golf (Base 2.5 L) does the same. When I refill, I reset the mileage range and depending on season and temp, it generally tells me 450 miles to the tank. If I then get on the Interstate, not driving in to a headwind, not a zero degree day, driving constant speed with cruise control on, I may see the expected range go up to over 500 miles per tank. As another forum member wrote, the F you bought may have been started and stopped several times.. in and out of shop area, perhaps a short test drive, the kind of driving and gas usage that the car will continue to factor in its calculations.
Here in the US, I have access to 91 non-ethanol gas and I do get better gas mileage with that (plus it's healthier for all the car parts.)
best wishes on your new car!
