Default A funny thing happened on the way to the store.

I finally ran across TahoeDave and his new R.

You really need to see the face-lift in person. It almost makes my front end look cartoonish.

It would good to finally catch you in the wild, Dave. We'll get a NorCal thing going soon.

Side by side, I still think the original looks better.

+1, it’s funny, my girlfriend is not a car person at all (likes trucks and SUV’s) when I showed her the new f-type, she immediately said: “why are you showing me a mustang?” I’m sure the new look will grow on me, but I love my interior/exterior and modification combination. I’m sure I would like the new look once I see one like I would order. I like the idea of the new tech etc, although the display looks similar to the new discovery which I have and don’t like at all, but I rarely drive with the radio on - usually windows down and and no need to mess with the radio or climate.

Vik,

It was great to finally meet you in person as well. When we did the side-by-side I thought to myself, "damn, they both look good!" I must admit that my 17 R was a jewel however, this new 2021 is my third F Type and I simply needed a bit of a change. I'm sure over time more of us will be faced with the same decision and it will be interesting to see the results. One thing for sure, we're all on the same team, regardless of where your headlights are mounted.

Looking forward to our upcoming Northern California Rally!

Dave

Both look amazing but the 2021 looks more wider/ supercar.

I would get the Jaguar badge darker/ all black, looks floating on the awesome grill.

For me, it won’t even be under consideration unless they reintroduce the MT.

Little things that I didn't notice until I saw it in person:

The new hood. I like it a lot. They did the vents in a style similar to the 67 mustang GT. Up near the nose, recessed vents. They look very sharp
The new side vents with the integrated leaper
The new wheels
The grill
The new seats
The new infotainment system
The new BRG

Things I didn't like:

I'm not a fan of the new rear diffuser. They added a verticle cross bar to support a lower piece that I don't think adds to the car.
The cubby up high is gone (behind and between the seats on coupes)

I'm still undecided on the lights, both front and rear. The car looks much better in person and I walking around it, you really appreciate it more. The tail lights are a more subtle change and I think I like mine (actually I like the darker ones from the last couple of years).

I see quite a few references to the "Mustang" front end look. I think, if anything I'm seeing a "Vantage" front end look.

I haven't seen the new model in the flesh yet but it's growing on me. They are both bad and beautiful cars, I don't think one can go wrong no matter what vintage they choose to drive

I agree completely. Then again, I also grew up in Northeastern Wisconsin.

Not trying to offend anyone but the older front end looks better to me. It might grow on me though.
