Nowhere else, it's the mirror or nuffin.
You need a new mirror with the necessary gubbins, see this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...opener-206749/

Why would you want to push a button - doesn't your butler open the garage door?

Ah, come on, give the guy a break, he already paid $100K for a five year old car.

Of course, if the OP had paid 100k for it, he could have chosen his options, rather than leaving it to the original owner to second-guess what would be wanted some years down the line.

I get it. There are a number of features that are standard on cars that are less than half the price that are not even options on the F-Type. Hell, there are features on cheaper Jags that are not available on the F-Type. It is a little annoying, but I knew that going in. The car isn't a sensible purchase and I love it; however, if JLR ever wants to sell the F-Type in large numbers, they are going to need to address this.

Personally, I find the limited number of F-Types as a mixed blessing. I like having a car that is not common. I can go a month without seeing another one. The flip side is there are fewer accessories available. Regardless, I still believe the whole is worth it.

With the F-Type the car's the thing. With lesser vehicles they have to add sweeteners or no-one would buy them.

Granted I don't live in a metro area, but it's not rural either; and I've yet to see another F-Type in any of my local travels--that since April 22 this year. For the entire 30 months I was tortured with Ghibli ownership I only saw one other and it only rarely.
I rather enjoy not driving something that is commonly encountered.

Rare is an understatement. I spent 6 months in Chicago and saw exactly 2, whereas I would see Ferrari’s every day.

i would love to understand JLR equipment thinking. A powered steering column but no home link. Seats that power up and down, but not back and forth. No rear view cameras, but a power top. If there is some logic here it eludes me.

You don't have a switch to move the seat back and forth? I can on mine, and I have a rear view camera. Maybe your original buyer didn't bother to spec them? I have no power top, but it is a coupe.

scm, having a 2018 R you are blessed with more features than most. The standard features on the F-T have gone up, down, and sideways since 2014. In the States, the car that is built to spec is the exception. Most are sold from dealer inventory with the options having been selected most often by the regional dealer group. Some automobile importing subsidiaries like it that way because it makes for less work. There are threads on this forum which discuss how daunting it is to order a Jaguar in the States.

Suaro...you have a base-level car (haven't we been through this before?) - obviously ordered with few or no options. My '15 model year car has the camera, seats that move a hundred ways, garage door opener and every other option. Most of these cars were ordered with a pretty full complement of features -yours was not. Jaguar has adopted something similar to the Porsche model of option pricing. I agree that it can be an issue if you are not the first owner, but there is no problem at all in finding a used or CPO car very nicely optioned. It is just a matter of knowing what features you want -before you buy.

Sov, I’ve discussed this with a couple of dealers and they are reluctant to option out a car going into inventory because as the price moves up the cars becomes harder and harder to sell.

My experience is the supply of CPO F-Ts in any given market is not large. Even if one moves up to a regional market we are not speaking of a lot of cars. So does one undertake to order one exactly as one wants and face the challenges on the order process and the heavy up front depreciation or comprise and take what you can get.

Personally I would prefer to order and adsorb the depreciation, but I was but off by the horror stories of inordinate delivery times.

I've bought a lot of cars over the years - I like to keep something relatively new in my garage - and I can't think of one that had the garage door opener as 'standard'. It was always part of some package or add-on, so not sure why one would expect the Jag to be any different, just because of the price. You aren't paying the 100K because the car is fully loaded - you are paying 100K for an amazing engine and noise and ride (and badge) - but extras will always be extras.

After about 10 or 15 years, the depreciation on the Jag isn't any more than most other marques. If you keep cars for 20-40 years like I do, depreciation and delivery times aren't even a consideration. I order them as close to my specifications as possible and spend the next several years modifying them to meet the rest of my required specs.
