Part #3, four different options, you probably want part T2R10146 (coupe) or T2R5420 (vert), both with auto-dim and garage opener.
Don't mind that the search is for a 2015, 2016 will be the same.
Shop around using the applicable part number.
Last but not least you probably will need the garage opener function activated via SDD which a dealer may or may not do for you, some are very fussy about this type of thing some not so fussy.

Default Garage Door Opener

You don't need JLR SDD to retrofit the garage door opener version. I replaced mine (base "dumb" mirror), and the wiring was all there. Was plug and play.

The one I got (2016 e*ay unit) also had the auto high/low beam sensor camera, now that will require SDD to enable - have yet to get to that.

You may want to check what garage door opener you have. Now, mine is a 2014 model, so maybe Jag updated the newer ones, but many people cannot use the buttons on the mirror, I for one. My Jag is not compatible with mine. Liftmaster 2.0.

I have a my16 r type coupe and swapped the mirror for one with homelink. However allthough you can program the buttons, the mirror doesn't transmit.

I picked up one of these for my vert that didn't come with homelink:

Amazon Amazon

It's compatible with everything from liftmaster/chamberlain since 1993. I just keep in the door pocket, but it's small enough to double stick anywhere. There's a few cheaper versions on ebay or amazon. You want to search for Liftmaster 890max or Chamberlain 956ev

There is a bridge for the liftmaster . I found one on Amazon for $29, made by liftmaster. I got problem when I replaced the opener. They can check your Vin to tell you for sure if you need bridge. I also have a '14.

Default Garage Door Opener

My rear view mirror has no home link buttons (MY2018).
I have noticed that when transmitting the garage door handset in front of my RVmirror, the signal is much stronger (door opens from a longer distance).
Any tech explanation for this happening?

The infrared reflective windshield will inhibit most radio frequencies. However, the area just in front of the rearview mirror was constructed without this feature to allow the use of toll transponders or garage door openers. Radar detectors also need to be mounted in that area if they are to be even partially effective.

And even with my toll transponder in that spot, I was only batting about .850 on my trip across I-90 to Maine.

Do you have a coupe or convertible, and which MY is your car. ?

Default Rear view Mirror

So sorry for delayed answer, I missed your question...is 2017 Coupe, Base.
Mirror plugged right up. As others have mentioned, it does have shorter range than my other car(s). I do believe it is the infrared / UV coating, as straight on it's great, but beyond 30 feet its iffy.
side note; the mirror I got also had Auto High Beam sensor, and I have enabled it in CCF and it does work

Do all F-types have the infrared coating? Can it be visually identified?

Will that coating interfere with a radar detector? (presently have a V1 mounted on the windshield pending delivery of a Blendmount for the rearview...seems OK)

Wasn't an option on 2014s, it only became available in the past couple of years, I think.

Standard on all models starting in 2017. Not available before then.

That is interesting to know as I have a 2016 Coupe type R. I have done the same, in that I picked up a mirror with home link and auto high bean assist. The Homelink only works partially. The homelink yellow LED lights up when you press a button, and it will learn codes. However it doesn't transmit. I know this because I have bought a IR detector and it it doesn't register a signal. It does register a signal from my Range Rover fitted with Homelink, so it is definitely not transmitting.
Since yours worked, I can only come to the conclusion that the 2016 wiring doesn't support homelink, or the mirror has a fault. It would be interesting to know the wires connected to your mirror, to understand if there is a difference in the looms! I had kind of given up until I saw your post, as the brochure for the 2016 Coupe says on the option list you can not have auto high beam assist and homelink.
