Default Gas mileage...what are you getting?

I'm sorry if this has been discussed, I did a quick search but didn't see any results.

I just hit 3,900 miles today and recently averaged 22.40mpg on my base V6, mainly cruising on the freeway but probably a good 20mph over the limit...whoops!

I know that's nothing to brag about but considering how heavy my right foot is, I'm pretty damn amazed.

What are you guys averaging...?

I think it has been discussed in some thread around here, but I think the concensus was that the computer calculation is a bit optimistic.

Did you use the computers numbers, or calculate by hand?

I've seen 30 mpg + on my R over long distance trips.

I remember seeing something too, maybe my keywords didn't work, lol.

I did it by hand and don't know if I've seen anything close to 30mpg...

Well, I've got 8 mpg more frequently than the 30...

Myself as well--last time I filled up during a road trip I had a range estimate of over 400 miles on my new tank of gas. This is based on a speed of 75-85 mph.

I wrote up a post with my cumulative data, mph (avg), mpg calculated (avg), mpg indicated (avg), miles/day (avg) but it seems to have been lost. Since I'm lazy (and tired) I'll note that I do indeed have mileage, and it varies a bit.

Yes we discussed this a few weeks ago but in my V6 S i'm getting 24-26 mpg with a mixture of interstate and city. Myself and a few others have noticed that the mpg readout on the dash is always over by 2 mpg.

For 1000 mile cruises, I've gotten 27-28mpg as reported by the computer. But I've confirmed what others have reported - at least for shorter trips, the computer is about 2mpg high.

Generally it reports low to mid 20s for my commute, which is mostly back roads.

I'll agree with off by 2mpg. My indicated is usually around 22, and calculated comes out around 20. On long highway trips I've averaged as high as 33 indicated (31c), and if my commute involves more Skyline than 280, I drop down around 18(16).

Turning dynamic mode off improves mileage a bit, and if you want to eke out every last MPG for highway cruising, put it in rain/snow mode. Just don't fall asleep.

That must have been a long downhill trip. I've never seen anything like that in a base V6, certainly not at 70 mph.

Same drivetrain, same fuel economy, and vigorous driving, just over 20 mph by hand calc.

I just calculated my first 3 tanks from buying the car new; I have a 2016 Base model. I got: 27.0, 30.5, and 29.5 mpg. I live in rural CO, and 90% of my driving is highway, not freeway, and a little in town. When I calculate trip mileage I do round-trip average to avoid the uphill-downhill issue, and we have a lot of those. For example, on a recent round trip from home to Copper Mountain only, the computer said 33.1 mpg, but I'm guessing that is 2 mpg high, similar to what others have observed or guessed.

I am one of those people who tops off at fill up to get an accurate MPG and find in my 2106 R the computer is optimistic by at least 3 MPG. I can live with that if it is consistent even if not accurate. The best I got on the Hwy was 24 and that was with a very light foot, to depressing to talk about the city mileage but I can always fool myself and believe the computer.

Perhaps I should have better explained what "everyday" means to me. It's that.

My most recent tank had a higher percentage of highway (indicated, but not perfectly by the average speed over the tank), and the numbers show it. As for calculated versus indicated, the graph makes clear what I see. It tracks, but is off by an average of 7.4%.

I suspected as much. For us gear grinders, it usually does.
