Exclamation Gearbox Fault

I just bought my first Jag, a 2014 F-Type V6S Convertible with only 18k miles. I'm occasionally getting a Gearbox Fault after starting it up, and I can not shift out of Park. I've turned the car off and then back on to clear it, sometimes having to wait a few minutes in between for it to work. When the dealer and an Independent Jag shop both checked it, they found Communication Errors with many components and cleared all the codes, and suggested it could be from a low battery.

So I had the Indy shop replace the battery and they cleared all the codes but a day later it happened again. Took it back into the Indy Shop and they spent an hour checking everything they could think of and could not find the cause. The Jag dealer suggested bringing it in but I'm concerned about going down a rabbit trail of replacing parts trying to find which one is causing the error. I love the car but this is very annoying and I'm worried about getting stranded somewhere if and when turning it off and back on again doesn't do the trick!

Any help on this? Other than the battery?

The more info you post, the more people on the forum can help you.
What Codes did you get?
What did the shop check?
Did they check the fluid level?
Take it for a long ride, 50-60 miles non-stop. Low mileage cars can get all sorts of issues, as connectors can corrode and seals harden and leak.

There are several possible battery related issues that could be at play here. First the new battery you purchased may not have been fully charged when you purchased it. Put it on a battery charger or maintainer and charge it until it is full. F-Types are very finicky when it comes to battery voltage. A battery that is not fully charged can cause all kinds of issues that don't actually exist.

Second F-Types have an issue when the OBD port is accessed and the session is not terminated correctly. That will cause the battery to drain. The telltale sign for this is the warning triangle on the dash stays illuminated after the car has been shut off for ten minutes.

If that if happening there is an easy fix. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for a minute and then reconnect it. That will resolve the issue. After doing that check and make sure the warning triangle on the dash does not remain illuminated after the car has been shutoff for ten minutes.

I remember about gearbox issues similar to yours back in the year 2014.
As far as I know there was an official TSB to adress this problem by
updating several software moduls. With only 18k miles your car
perhaps didn't got all relevant software updates.
