Default Got My F Type R - Should I do any Visual Mods?

I just got my 2017 F Type R delivered today. I'm SO in love!!! The power, the noiiise.

Not that I need to do it, as I love the car already...but are there any low cost modifications worth doing to make the car a little more unique/even more aggressive looking? It has a clear bra halfway up the hood already, I'll be taking it for ceramic coating/paint correction. Other than that though, based on my limited internet browsing I was considering Tint, painting the break calipers yellow (I rather like the look of the ceramic caliper colors). Also was considering wrapping the side chrome...but thinking maybe with the silver car, might be good to keep it as chrome. Rambling now, but curious of others' opinions to imagine the possible.

The best bang for buck visual mods are to fit wheel spacers and lowering springs, that combo will dramatically improve the knock kneed on stilts stock stance and make it look like it should have from the factory.

Honestly, this car looks perfect exactly as it is.

My 2c: The H&R Springs (1.3” lower) makes the car plenty aggressive looking, but detracts slightly from the aesthetics. At ~0.8” lower, the VAP springs give the car the perfect look. The Eibach springs appear to be a real crap shoot for whether they actually lower or raise the car.
As Oz suggests, the spacers (or custom offset wheels) are a must to get the optimally looking stance.

I've done lots of visual mods to my car (wrap sills, wrap roof pillars, 21 inch wheels, slotted and drilled rotors, debadged, blacked out badges, some other stuff I'm a little embarrassed to say) but I reckon live with it for a while before you do much as then it is like getting a new car each time. The only mod I did in the first year was to wrap the sills.

Just on the spacers, before you do that consider whether you are likely to eventually replace the OEM wheels with forged wheels, which has a noticeable (quite amazing) handling improvement. If you do you might not need the spacers depending on how wide you go.

Personal taste, I always loved the silver and black pack look in the XKR and F Type. If I had yours (silver was my second choice for colour) I think I would be wrapping bits black. But it is very classy as is.

Eibach springs do lower the car, even more so than the VAP springs, I started scraping the front dummy chin when I moved to the Eibach springs from VAP. It is definitely not clear whether they actually make springs for the R or AWD versions though. Their springs will fit all RWD V6, V6S and V8S

Can I ask why you went from VAP to Eibach? I'm looking at both at the moment for my V6S

VAP was a bit too soft, and hence, bouncy for my taste. It's very much to each their own here though, some will prefer the softer ride for comfort. I just preferred something stiffer but would happily recommend both depending on your tastes

Thanks for that. I've fitted Eibachs to at least 7 or 8 cars and always been happy, never regretted it. They normally result in a slightly firmer ride, but nothing drastic. F-Type rides surprisingly well even with 20's, but wouldn't want to lose to much comfort. What do you think?

Cost is certainly easier to stomach. Wonder if anyone has gone from Eibachs to VAP

I honestly think it rides perfectly fine and I (pre-COVID) drive 150 kms per day in my F-Type. Then again, I am 28 so guess I can handle bumps a bit better?? It's perfectly fine for me and much prefer the sportier feeling of the Eibachs

None of the suspension options significantly impact ride comfort in a negative way including the more radical H&R springs. Lowering springs will, however, perceptibly reduce the body roll which I find disconcerting on a performance vehicle.

Do the VAP springs work on the '14 V8S convertible?

It's not solely age, although that can play a role. For people who are used to comfy sedans or SUV's, the F-Type can seem harsh. I'm used to stiffly sprung actual race cars so the F-Type seems cushy (and I'm several years ahead of you). In other cases, some people are just more sensitivity to road bumps than others. There is no rhyme or reason why some people are more sensitive than others to stiffer suspensions. It's just another one of those things that makes people unique.

Personally I like the look of your car as is.
Beautiful car.

Silver or black trim is ok to change depending on personal taste.
I have black from the factory
Enjoy your Jag

Yep, VAP actually have springs available for all the variations

Yeah, I really like your car as is. With those wheels, the chrome accents and trim look really good. If it were me, I would tint as dark as legal if not already, and maybe consider lowering springs and spacers for a more aggressive look after about 6 months of enjoying it as is. Visually the other aspects are great to me.

Thanks for that, this is exactly the decision I came to last night. Going to give it a few months to do anything other than tint, and enjoy it as is. Unfortunately I am in PA and the legal limit is to allow 70% in, which is quite light.

The only mod I felt compelled to make immediately was replacing the footwell and puddle lamp bulbs with T10 LEDs

I don't care from chrome. I have none on my car (which is black) and even dechromed my truck; however, that color with those wheels...it just looks perfect. I would leave the chrome and just got with the window tint. I could see yellow looking good on the brake calipers, too.

In the end, there really isn't a wrong answer. I'd drive it as it for a couple of months before making any big changes, though (except the tint).
