Default Greatest Drag Race 3 and 4: V6S and V8R

Edit: sorry - title should read V8S and V8R

V8S Convertible - 7th
12.1 sec
120.2mph

V8R Coupe - 3rd
11.8 sec
122.3mph

What's interesting is not only how they stack up in relation to each other, but also where they finish relative to the rest of the field in each race.

If the V8S had posted that time in Drag Race 4, it would have placed 4th, just after the V8R - not too shabby! And (perhaps not surprisingly), if the R had posted that time in Drag Race 3, it would have placed 6th, just ahead of the V8S.

Good, solid results amongst very impressive cars.

I'm very interested to see how the AWD unit does in this race if they choose to do so. I bet we see a decent increase. Maybe 11.5 territory with the extra grip?

The first video is a V8S convertible and not a V6S.

Still impressive results overall for the Jag especially in the second video.

Thanks, Trakrzy - I thought I saw 4 exhausts there!

I've changed the original post, although unfortunately, I can't change title.

Few things..

- Vert is racing with the top down...lol?
- Guy driving the vert is wearing jeans/trousers, all other guys wearing shorts. Weight advantage!
- Audi R8 V10 time is more comparable. Sting put the V8S around the top gear track faster, the V8R version too then that car.
- Both cars faster than comparable $ Porsche and Aston Martin rivals. nice.
- I expect the V8R to be faster than the Vert in a straight line with the extra horses but its been slower around few tracks than the V8S due to it supposedly 'rolling'
- In both videos the most supreme exhaust not wholly belongs to JAG.

Aerodynamics play a huge role. The convertible top should have been left up.

I like your weight advantage observation... Must remember to wear shorts to my next track day!

I'm glad you said "supposedly rolling". I think you're propogating an urban myth... Where are you pulling that factoid from? My R sits very flat in the corners - a characteristic that has been remarked upon by 2 separate passengers who are experienced competition drivers. But I have no personal experience in a vert to compare it to.

If I recall correctly, that was quoted came from a comparison of coupe and vert done by a well-known professional race driver after thrashing them both around a well-known circuit. It was published here some time ago.

However, it's only one data point and the only time I've heard that. The only reason can think of why that might be possible is a higher CG given the weight of the metal roof. However, I can't imagine the difference is that significant.
