I've had need of a fire extinguisher twice in my driving career

- once saved my own car when the engine caught fire on an MR2 back in the 90s.

- once to put someone else's car out on fire on the motorway.

So I always fit a couple of fire extinguishers in my cars - one in the boot as a backup, and one somewhere in the cabin I can get to easily - usually under drivers seat.

So here's how to fit one in 10 minutes to your F type with no special parts.

I got a £7.99 1kg power fire extinguisher from my local shops. This comes with a stand plastic bracket.

Checking under the front of seat, there is a removable plastic box which hosts 2 plug connectors for the seats - my seats are manual so others may find this not the case of full of other stuff if they have the full 8 way motor pack.

The plastic box is made from very thick strong plastic, and fitting the extinguisher is as easy as checking the fit, drilling two holes, and bolting it on (I used stainless hex cap bolts with washers and nylock nuts.

The strap releases by pulling up as you'd expect for easy access to the extinguisher.

I realise some people recommend only fitting to passenger side - I assume in case it falls out and blocks brake, etc - however the factory one on my M roadster is on drivers side too - and frankly you'd be unable to reach it easily in passenger side of F-Type if mounted there - but make your own decision of course.

Anyway, result is neat- very handy, but completed out of the way when sitting down so does not catch on anything.
