Happy Easter to me! What a day I had!!
I mean, what a great f*@king day I had.
First perfect weather day in Michigan since owning the F-Type 3 weeks.
I drove to the in laws, top down, natch. Pulled up to stares, oohs and aaws, as my wife's family was already there and outside the house.
Now, I have two brother in laws who are real gear heads. Absolutely great guys. They have driven every Detroit muscle car, built them, modified them raced them (they also race snowmobiles, do fender work, and other manly man stuff). To my surprise, neither one of them had ever seen an F-Type before. But I sure got their attention.
Threw Joe the keys, and we went for a little ride. The grin on his face said it all. He could not believe the torque. And that sound!
Next I had Tim drive it. He was a little less cautious, having owned some real hot rods in the past. He stepped on it over a nice bit of open road (Hickory Ridge, MI-ftype!) and kept saying "Oh my God!" Took it to a parking lot for some smoke and we were giggling like schoolboys. We played around with the different modes, using the shifters, and just generally having fun.
Back at the house, we just stood outside looking at it and talking about it. It is just so beautiful.
So the best moment was when Joe turned to me and said, "I'm a Corvette guy. I've always loved Corvettes. I would only ever own a Corvette, I love the look, the drive, everything about them. But, I would own that F-Type."
*BAM* !!!
Yeah, a really great day.

I, too, am a Corvette guy and have been since 1985 and have owned 6 so far. The new C7 Z06 just wasn't doing it for me so I went for the F Type R. Very happy with my choice. I still have a Corvette and always will. My current one is now 10 years old and I bought it new. It's been heavily modified and puts out 541rwhp. My garage looks like this now.
