(This seems like a really stupid question, so I will accept a stupid answer.)

As I recall, the rear hatch cover on my coupe used to kind of tuck itself in just underneath the hatch lid. Now it kind of hangs down into the hatch, suspended on those two cables. I cannot figure out how to get it back to its original position.

 

It might be off the "hinges". Check the far front of the cover, right behind the seats. Make sure the hinges (for lack of a better word that escapes me at the moment) are solidly snapped into place.

 

when closed, the "privacy cover" should be flat / horizontal. if not, then it's not aligned/seated correctly. my hatch has an issue where it will not align itself correctly, so it's slight off. still works as intended, but just annoying. I believe this is a known issue. the latch thingy doesn't hold the cover very well.

 

The cover was indeed off its hinges, now fixed, problem solved. Thanks much.

 

I realized that my hatch cover wasn't quite straight, either. It's pretty easy to miss the right notches if you aren't paying attention.
