About 10 mph over the posted speed limit and it felt great. It always feels great!

Believe very little what RickyJay (aka Jay) says.

Not that I recommend it, but I hit 137MPH this summer, on an empty freeway with great sightlines. Pavement wasn't great, but car was solid.

I am a base, but I just popped in for fun.... 123 in Montana. 114 in Humboldt. Cop clocked me at 101 on the *other side of the freeway*. I saw him light me up, and slowed down to speed limit. He caught up, knew I slowed down for him, and so it was a lovely ticketing conversation.

In MT, my wife was napping on a long road trip, but was sort of awake and had zero idea about our speed.

This car WANTS to be fast. It actually hunkers down around 100 and feels far more stable. It's amazing.

What was the speed limit where you were pulled over? I thought at that speed they'd lock you up?

I resemble that! I also have a saying, "The Forum - and 2017 Jaguar Lobster Runners - who stays together speeds together." Not to worry though, I have already made arrangements for adjoining cells for all of us!

Just kidding of course.

268 km/h (= 166mph) in a V6S coupe with automatic transmission - that one was a rental car I took out while I was still deciding whether to get an F-Type.
In my own V6 Convertible MT I've gotten the car up to 258 km/h (= 160 mph).

Sometimes it pays living in Germany...

Car does feel stable, even at those speeds. Still for me it stops being fun around 240 km/h (=150mph) or so. After that keeping track of all the traffic around you and the probable need for some really hard braking becomes stressful.

In many jurisdictions, attitude is everything.

I was cited circa 1988/1989 for 109 in a 55mph...like the other in this thread, he was going the other direction and I knew I was busted. I was at the side of the road waiting when he got turned around.

I am sure the situation plays out very differently for those that don't immediately shut it down and pull over and then compound the matter by being idiots with the officer/trooper.

I just rabbit holed for 25 minutes looking for my post which explains the whole thing. Took time to wind around wine country without tech this past few days. But welcome back, now I am searching hard!

I was astounded at how solid, stable, and comfortable I was at 112! lol, once I got back down to speed limit, CHP showed up on my tail and followed me for 20 miles... must not have clocked me, but, I must have blown by him... doh. Got lucky

My Favorite Physics test question of all time:

Mr. Jones got pulled over for running a red light. He politely told the officer that due to the speed he was traveling, the red light (650nm) was doppler shifted to green (510nm) so he could not possibly have been able to tell it was red. The officer thought about it and thanked Mr. Jones for the explanation. He then told him that he was off the hook for running the red light, however, we was going to have to fine him $0.01 for every mph over the speed limit that he was going. If the speed limit was 55mph, how much did Mr. Jones have to pay?

I think about $1.445 million if I got all the units and constants right.

lol! Better than getting in your 'cat' and trying to see if you can detect a doppler shift with a buzz on!

Touched 140 on I15 in Utah briefly. 80mph was limit on 8 lane section with great visability. Traffic was doing about 90!

As another member mentioned, living in Germany offers other opportunities. I'm still breaking my 2017 (manual transmission) and ran it at 145 MPH and the faster I run it the steadier it feels, it really grabs the road. I plan on maxing out soon and see/learn what's the limit

All the comments about the F-Type at speed also refer to every Jaguar I have owned from a 60's Mk 2 to any of the XJ saloons, V12 and 6 and V8, to the x-Type, to the XK....they all share this DNA. At (high) highway speeds they simply feel even more stable, they crouch lower on the road, they give little or no sensory clues to the speed you are going...they are meant for driving at speed, not for coffee runs in the suburbs. Jaguars are addictive for many reasons.
