Default Hot Center Console Not turning on

So, I just got a pre-owned R 2016. Only 10K miles.

Seems OK. Had it tested.

However, since I am in Texas, and this week it got pretty hot, I went to the car and turned it on, however the center console wouldnt turn on until it was cooler in the car. Is this normal?

How hot is pretty hot in Texas?

Do you mean the touch screen display? If so it very likely contains a temperature sensor which disables it in extreme heat to protect the LEDs. The all LCD instrument cluster on the XJ has that problem in really extreme heat (which is worrying because there are no dials). The TS contains a fan to keep it cool which will activate when the car is unlocked. If you get in and wait for a few minutes does it come on automatically, or do you need to restart when it is cooler? If you shine a torch on the screen when it is off do you see the menu but without backlight?

A 2016 will still have factory warranty so I would get it looked at just be sure you don't have a faulty unit.

Good idea. Yeah, it was about 97 outside. As soon as I get back in town Ill be getting the tint, etc... hopefully that will prevent this from happening again.

I live in SoCal and we've seen 110 degree heat a couple of months back and I was also in Vegas where it hit 124; both times screen worked fine. Car was parked outdoors both times as well. Wouldn't hurt though to see if the car stored a fault code for thermal protection shut down on the screen.

Mine has been in pretty hot conditions (102 last Saturday when I opened it up) and never had that happen. V6S.

V8S have been in 105-110. No issues with the LCD, never really checked the ambient lighting in daytime.
