Default How-To: FCP Euro $20 oil change kits via RMA

Just a bit of a PSA. FCPEuro has lifetime warranty on all parts they sell. This includes the oil and oil filters. This will cost you the price of two entire kits initially, because you have to order the replacement before you can RMA the previous order. Once you RMA, you'll receive the cost of the kit back as store credit to continually use for replacements.

If you are using some of the expensive oil like TopTec 6600 that's about $100 per change.

My kit, you can substitute for whatever you use:
Here is the outline of steps.
  1. Order your entire oil change kit. We will call this Order #A. Keep all original packaging!
  2. Around your time for the next oil change, order the identical kit. We will call this Order #B. Keep all original packaging!
  3. Submit a lifetime guarantee replacement online. You will choose Order #A as the original order, but you use Order #B as the "most recent replacement order #" https://www.fcpeuro.com/returns/new?..._type=warranty
  4. Put the used oil from Order #A back into the original containers and seal them. Put the original oil filter and o-ring from Order #A into a zip-lock bag inside the original box. Package this back up in the box, purchase a return label using USPS Ground Advantage for $20.
  5. FCP Euro will credit your account back for Order #A. You can then repeat step 2-4 indefinitely.

I'll confirm this approach works - I've been doing it for our BMWs' service needs for years now.

The parts linked to above are for the Liqui-Moly oil that meets JLR's current oil spec of STJLR.03.5006. Is there an FCP Euro link to the OE Castrol oil that meets the spec for those of use that prefer to stick to OE parts and fluids through FCP Euro? Asking for a friend...

This has been mentioned before. I wonder if this intentional on their end to drum up repeat business, or folks taking advantage of a great warranty? LL Bean finally gave up on their lifetime warranty, as simply way too many people took advantage of them. We met the CEO on one of our Maine events, and he said that people were buying pretty much destroyed boots etc online, then demanding replacements (which they accommodated.)

Thanks, but I think you misunderstood my request.

I'm interested in the OE Castrol oil that meets the current F-Type spec of STJLR.03.5006 . You provided links to Liqui-Moly oils that meet other JLR oil specs.

It's possible the OE Castrol oil isn't available from FCP Euro (only through Jaguar dealers), but if it is actually available from FCP Euro, I'd love some help finding it.

I share your curiosity about the sustainability of this business model, and it would not hurt my feelings if they stopped accepting consumables and wear-and-tear items like oil in their Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. I recall their marketing language specifically calling out that oil was accepted, but upon reviewing the current language, they just specifically call out that it "covers every single part we sell, including wear-and-tear items". That said, if they're going to continue accepting consumables and wear-and-tear items, I'm not going to be the one that doesn't take advantage of it.

Thanks for taking the time to write up the steps. I too have been using their ‘Lifetime Guarantee’ program for years, from oil to brake fluid to wipers to brake pads for different cars and FCP’s absolutely legit. To boot, living in NY, returning even something as heavy as 7 quarts of used oil and filter to FCP in CT costs less than $15 UPS ground!

To answer your question on the Castrol, that's a nope. You can get it at Atlantic British, but there is no refund deal

Curious, do you have to declare it as hazmat?

I appreciate the writeup. Having just done my first DIY oil change I have a question. When I place my second order (Order #B) in the above example and go to get my refund for order #A can I send the oil and filter from Order #A back in the packaging from Order #B that I just received, or must I send them back using the packaging from Order #A?

The reason I ask is if I can send the contents or Order #A back in the packaging from Order #B then I don't have to store the packaging from Oder #A all year.

As long as the packaging is correct it isn't tied to the order. You can wait on the replacement packaging if you don't want to just re-use the original.
