How many % off msrp for a BASE model?
Yes I've been hearing the same thing that the dealers aren't discounting the base models much at all. I would think 5%-8% off is about the best your going to see unless you get one that already has some miles on it. Don't know how much it helps you but on my 2015 F Type S it stickered about $93K and I got it for exactly $81K tax tag title everything out the door but it already has 3000 miles on it. I was thrilled to get this price but it took a lot of negotiating.
Same here. My 2016 S had an MSRP of $93K as well and I got mine for $82K because it too had 3,000 miles on it. I was happy to get that price and I figured I would get used to this car then can upgrade in 2 to 3 years to the R.
got a few responses from dealers in my area:
2016 MSRP 67,433 (invoice 64,506).. selling price $65,506 ($1000 over invoice) - $5000 rebate = $60,006
2017 MSRP 63xxx.. selling price $60,759
What do you guys think? Most dealers in southern cal don't seem to want to negotiate via email. They want you to come "Test drive the car" lol

The $5,000 rebate is some Jan/April promotion that must have rolled into May. When I signed my paperwork (4/20/16) I signed for the $5,000 rebate, but after reviewing everything they said they couldn't use it. I had to go back the next day in which I signed a $1,000 rebate, but none of my numbers changed. They just discounted the purchase the price on the car. I figured it was something if you were previously in a Jag in which I wasn't and that's why I didn't get it, but that is just a hunch.
Im having a hard time finding out model year differences from 2016 to 2017. What standard items did they remove in order to lower the MSRP? Negotiated price being equal, which would you get?
Also, what southern cal dealer is best to work with?

I would guess that you would have more of a possibility to get more msrp off a base 2016 compared to a 2017 and based on the heading on the thread you will go with a 2016. I just bought a 2016 S because I got a great deal compared to the 2017. Good Luck they are awesome cars and I haven't even really got enjoy it yet. I've had it a month and only driven it 300 miles. I will make up for it this summer though.

That's because for 2017, JLR introduced two base models, "base premium" and "base." The 2016 base is more like today's 2017 base premium. The 2017 "base base" deleted some previously included std. features in the 2016 base, and that seems to be the comparison you're making above. However, it's an apples-to-oranges comparison.
2017 base auto, MSRP $63,833,,,they dropped to $60,833 without any negotiating. Can I do better?
Haven't mentioned JCNA discount, as I haven't signed up, and from what I understand I need to be enrolled for 6 months before the discount even applies, correct?

Where roughly in SoCal do you live ?
After looking at the market for several months, just negotiated a 2016 Base Coupe Manual MSRP $70,495 for slightly less than 12% off @ $62,250 also taking advantage of current factory to dealer rebates on 2016s. Boston area.
2016 Manual base vert, cash paid. Ordered direct w/ $30K of options. I got approx 4-ish+% on West Coast of US. Neighbor is the dealer owner. Sales guy said that was pretty amazing, especially as direct factory orders have zero to zilch profit margin in there (sort of)....
