Good to know. Though I tried (many times) to understand how various manufs treated their assigned VIN's, I was never able to use them in any reliable way to measure production figures for a given year(s). Now I know why.

919 is your magic number. If you have an R, then you are 1 of 919.
You should look for only 2015s as that data would be more accurate. Less 2014 vehicles would be on dealer lots compared to the actual number sold vs. 2015s since they are older. And since coupes were only made as 2015s you're just adding an unneccesary variable.

Granted this math is probably way off anyways since all of this data is just a guess, but I'd think 500-750 R coupes built for the U.S.

It's interesting that we've all arrived in the same ballpark using different methods, but I hedged my bets way up top by just SWAGing less than 1K Rs.

Less than 1000 RWD R's is a pretty nice figure.

Can agree to under 1K as well. That would have the R Coupe at around 20% or less for total F-Type production for the U.S. in MY15.

It seems like R coupes are leading since they became available. Vegas dealer rep told me they still sell about 50-50 coupes/convert. Weather helps, I've had roof down for most of a month.

It would be easy to get that impression (R coupes leading) in this forum, but this group is not representative of the general population of buyers. A good example of this is that you don't see many base owners among the active participants on this forum, but they sell a lot of base cars.

I do agree that coupe and convertible sales seem to be about 50/50 in most areas.

Dragging up an old thread to add some perspective. During the year highlighted in this thread (2015), JLR sold TWICE as many coupes (3011) as they did convertibles (1546) . While these are European numbers, the odds are good that the production ratio's in the USA mirror these figures

I just bought my 2015 F-Type R in British Racing Green and am thrilled with it.
Here's the approach I took to estimate the total # of 2015 Rs sold in the USA:
4,534 F-Types sold for model year 2015 (carsalesbase.com Oct-2014 thru Sep-2015)
Today, there are 652 F-Types for sale on Cars.com nationwide.
Of those 652, 233 are 2015 models.
Of those, 33 are 2015 F-Type Rs.
Using the ratio of 33/652=~5% on the used.
5% of 4,534 = 643 - which is consistent with others conclusions on this thread: definitely less than 1,000.
Carrying in one additional step: mine is British Racing Green and only two are currently available on the same site, suggesting my car in my color is one of 39.

Sorry:
33 Rs our of 233 2015 models available = 14.2%
14.2% of 4,534=643. Same conclusion, just quoted the wrong ratios. Sorry.
