How many miles out of the rear stock Pirelli's?
I ordered a tire depth gauge on Amazon last night and will take the measurements when it comes this weekend. If I have more than 4/32s on the rears I am gonna keep them on this summer. I actually like the ability to slide around a bit with the base V6 when desired. The fact that it doens't have tons of power allows for a bit of controlled fun.
Todays cars are engineered with the tires in mind, so I wouldn't run 2 different types. I am going to switch to Michelin PSS next year as I like them better than any Pireli for everyday driving, might investigate a little wider!

Your best traction will occur at under 5/32. DOT rated competition tires come pre-shaved to 7/32 or 5/32 (the latter if you can afford replacing tires more often). This minimizes the amount of traction robbing tread chatter. On my fair weather cars, I always run the tread right down to the wear bars. (Stay out of the rain!)
Enjoying the PSS's. Much more grip out of the box.
You can see the condition of my OEM Zero's in the attached photos. I am pretty sure they were due to be replaced. What do you think?

You are down to the wear bars on the front. Lots of tread on the rear. Just concerned about what's causing the tread tear on the one line of tread.
Indeed! Note it is the same line of tread on all 4 tires. Suggests that the compound there needs to be revised by Pirelli.
