Independent Jag Mechanic
New to Jag ownership. Does anyone have any recommendations for a North SF Bay Area ( I live in Fairfield ) independent Jaguar mechanic? I just started getting a Service Required notice on startup. I'm assuming nothing critical as there is no check engine light on. Thanks for any recommendations.
That's what I figured. Thanks for the response. Just for future needs if anyone has any suggestions for an Indie mech around my area - anywhere within 50 miles hopefully - I'd appreciate it.
It might be a bit of a drive for you but I use Bacchus British Services https://www.bacchusbritish.com , in Dublin CA. They're very knowledgeable with Jags and reasonably priced, also honest and don't try to over sell you stuff you don't need. I trust them FAR more than I do any dealership.
I just took my car there yesterday for it's annual service.
Good Luck

As noted above, the Service Required message is just a reminder based on time/mileage - nothing functional. If you know nothing about the car's service history, it's something to attend to, but probably not urgent. Dealers are notorious for forgetting to reset the message when they perform routine maintenance. You can reset the warning by:
1) Set ignition on
2) Open hood
3) Open driver's door
4) Fully depress both accelerator and brake pedals for 10 seconds
5) Turn off ignition
If the message still appears, try again.
The bay area is large enough, you may find a suitable independent, but around here they're hard to find. Ever since Jaguar went to 5 years of coverage for warranty and maintenance, independents haven't had much demand on newer models, such as the F-Type. And, given so much of work on these cars is based on the electronics and requires special tools, there's an entry price to get in the game. That shouldn't be a problem for the most basic work, like oil changes and brake, but my best local shop won't even touch one (but loved it when I stopped by).
Enjoy your new toy!
