As an aside -and I know this has been brought up tangentially before - I just hope that the F-Type's paint holds up as beautifully as my wife's 2006, and in perfect condition, BMW 325 Xi Wagon has held up. I washed her car yesterday and the paint/finish looks like it's brand new. Now back to your original post, already in progress.

I kinda agree with what you're saying comparing M5 to Jag F...everyone tends to compare these two on the track and winding roads and slalom, etc but even then, they're just different cars. But interior/tech? I agree and that is one of the reasons I came ever so close to leasing the M4 b/c the M settings are literally beside the shifter--one click changes; as far as Jag tech/infotainment being ****, I'm no so sure. I think it works perfect in my wife's LR Sport and works perfect in Jag. I have played around with multiple other cars (Escalades, Boxster, RS5, AMGC63, etc) and they're tech/infotainment centers are no better than Jag. I will agree, however, that you're comparing what I consider the rockstar of systems. BMW iDrive was ahead of its time a decade ago and IMO, no one has come close to it. I love the iDrive and that was one of the top 3 selling points of the M4 I looked at -- perhaps when my lease is up in 3 yrs, maybe, just maybe, M4 will have some little trickery like Jag in order to make exhaust better--and I'll finally get an M4 like I had planned on this time.

Congrats on the F-Type. Over time I think you will come to realize how much more beautiful this car is compared to the BMW. Who cares about infotainment when you have the top down, the wind in your hair and that V8 roaring mighty thunder on all around. Black/Black is a great choice. I think this car looks particularly good murdered. Not all cars do but this one in particular looks super. Now time for you to do some mods?

Why? Did they forget to optimize it before it left the factory?

The RS5 S-Tronic dual clutch was (is) an unbelievably good transmission too. But the German cars just lack that spirit, charisma and sex appeal of the F Type.

F-Type: Good to be Bad!
BMW: Good to be a Bureaucrat!

I try to compare cars like I do restaurants and almost always seem to come up short. Much easier to contrast them. What I was looking for in the M4 wasn't there, a return to E36 days, with a renewed emphasis in performance over luxury. In the end, as you say, they're just different cars. Oh, and as far as the electronics, having owned a number of BMW's I'm quite comfortable with iDrive--it's come a long way indeed.
