In USA Jaguar has best warranty coverage in the market. If you want better reliability, get a Honda. I don't think BMW, Audi or Mercedes is any better than Jaguar. 5 year, 50k warranty goes a long way. My Jag dealer gives great service compared to the BMW dealer when I owned an X5. My 2nd Jag. Total ownership of 7.5 years with the brand. I'd buy another.

P.S. No Audi is as good looking as an F type, although they have some attractive models.

I have been driving Jags as daily drivers for over 30 years. If they were unreliable I would have stopped buying them a long time ago!

Much of the reliability reports I read ranks jaguar very low too except in 2017. In 2019 one of the report ranks it 26 out of 31 !!!
Considering the cost of repairs this makes me wonder if I should not go for an Audi Instead

whAt has been your reality ?
Should I listen to everyone or to me heart ?
I love my F-type, best car i've ever owned, albeit i haven't owned that many. My car is currently getting its 5th exhaust fitted, headlight issue, horn stopped working, and the brand new F-pace loaner they gave me with 300 miles didn't start this morning. Still love the brand.

My brother-in-law mentioned Jaguar's low reliability issues when he heard I was considering purchasing a F Type. He happened to come to Indiana last July and admired my car. I took him for a (spirited) ride and he really liked the car and kept talking about it. Now he's looking at used F Types in his area.

Only issue I've had was self imposed by me. I was at the self serve car wash and tried to use the high power wash to clean the rear exhaust, (DUH), got an O2 sensor wet and ruined the sensor. It was replaced under extended warranty.

As others have mentioned, many posters on here are looking for solutions to some issues they are having and not talking about all the non-issues. Given the total number of F Types made, the complaints are very few. I came to this site to be made aware of reoccurring issues. Most issues appear to be related to weak battery affecting the electronics. Mechanical issues appear to be pretty rare.

Buying a used car is always risky unless you know the full history of the car. I recommend a CPO d car or having the car completely checked by a reliable independent mechanic. (wrecked, flood car, etc) I toured the F Type factory and was very impressed at the build quality and stringent checkpoints at each step of the assembly line. I don't think reliability is an issue with the F Types (my opinion).

My 2014 V8 still has a year of CPO warranty left. No issues.

Really? Must be US only, then - I've never seen an Audi that didn't look like a jelly mould. And who'd buy a car named after a paper size?

Now that is funny! As I've said more than once I thought the original S5 was a looker, made very much less so over years of tinkering. I like the A7. Have a very good friend with a beautiful '09 S8. Ok, the new ones aren't as good looking. Ipads stuck on dash don't help.

The very last place I would look for car buying advice would be Consumer Reports. I would have shied away from every car I've ever bought had I taken their advice, and there are several cars I've gotten rid of that I would love to have back.

The thing about reviews whether it be a restaurant, hotel or car, most people don't leave good reviews. The good review is forgotten because they have moved on from the experience.
I guess I have 2 unreliable cars one LR one F-type. If you don't turn around and look at the car when you park it, then you bought the wrong car. Go at it with research and no regret.

Not a myth, I am convinced its clever propaganda.
Miraculously no one remembers that Audi had to leave the American market entirely for a more than a decade due to unreliability.
Jaguar never has.

How about the Audi sudden acceleration issue from the mid 80's? We used to tell the wife of our boss not to park her Audi in front of the office window where our work desks were located.

My F-Type is the most reliable car I have ever owned, period.
Only two problems ever in three years of ownership on an almost five year old car, the common SC coupler rattle fixed under warranty and one small coolant pipe leak easily fixed for minimal cost.

In the 80's they said the worst place to be stuck in traffic was in a Ford Pinto with an Audi 5000 behind you. Remember sudden acceleration. The reason we have had to apply the brakes (since 1993) to get our cars out of gear.

In addition to my 2016 F-Type S convert, I currently have a 1970 E-type OTS. Both are reliable. With 8000 miles on the F-type the only warranty work has been an O2 sensor. I have had numerous XJ's, a few other E-types, an XK120, Mark VII and a MKII. The only real problem I remember was with my favorite sedan of all time, a 2004 XJ8. What a car. It is the best sedan I ever had. Except when it was 25 or so degrees outside, it wouldn't start. It would crank and crank but not start. I would call the flatbed, have it taken to the dealer, then later the independent shop and invariably by the time it got there it would start. No shop was ever able to duplicate the problem I eventually traded it in on a Rang Rover and told the dealership about the problem. About a year and a half later, in the dead of winter, I get a call from a guy in New York State. He tells me he has my car and when it is 25 degrees out, it wouldn't start. I told him I was never able to diagnose the problem and just to keep it in the garage if it was going to be cold. Aside from that, none of my jags ever left me stranded. Can't say that about the bahnstormers!

I was wondering the same before I bought my F-type. I had heard about Jaguars not being reliable, and that they were costly to service and repair.

However the car looked and drove so well, so I deceided to take the risk.

Four and a half years later I have not regretted my decision in any way. It has not been 100% trouble free, but the few snags have been minor. They have all been fixed while the car has been serviced, and they have been fixed on warranty. The car has never had to stay at the workshop overnight. Delivered in the morning, and picked up in the afternoon.

Price for the yearly service has been surpricingly low, considering it is a 8 cylinder engine in a sportscar. Total cost of ownership so far has been a lot less than expected.

Warranty expired over to years ago (I bought the car second hand one year old in Germany and imported it to Norway, so only 3 years factory warranty), and I have not bought an extended warranty. That has been no reason for concern, as the car has been 100% trouble free since the warranty expired.

The car still feel as solid as a brand new car. Never had any rattles or other reasons to complain.

For me this car is a keeper, and my plan is to keep it "forever". It is by far the best and most fun to drive car I have ever had. There is not one thing about this car that I dislike 🙂

It was the F-Type that forced my hand to making my XKR the forever Jaguar...now if there is an XKR successor, i.e the same category, luxury sports grand tourer.......

My brother got the F-type, I cant see him in my car. He is more of the James Dean sort, I am more of the Dean Martin sort.

I suspect JLR will target the Tesla sort on the next go around, which neither of us are, and looks like the Ftype may be his forever car.

(p.s. the inline6 supercharged and turbo charged in the new Defender only makes 400hp, so that wont work in the sports car)
