Wink Jaguar F-Type 2018 Trickle Charger

I'm thinking of buying a Juice My Ride Trickle charger for my 2018 F-Type.. it looks like it's easily connected to the Cig lighter.

Does anyone have one of these and does it work properly? Is that where you connect it?

I do not think you can charge the car via the "cig" light.
That inlet only works when the ignition is on.
Plus, not sure it will accept a charge even then.
You are better off sticking to the proven C-Tek charger connected to your battery or under hood terminals

Is it really a trickle charger or a proper battery maintainer? And no, you can't use the 12V socket with the igniton off.

Many, many posts on this? As posted above save yourself a lot of grief and get the one we know works and works well on Jaguars?

Are you aware that Jaguar uses CTEK chargers in their show rooms? That's a pretty good recommendation right there.
It's a big enough problem that Jaguar released a battery charging kit so you can wire it in permanently in the trunk. I have not seen anyone install this kit but it looks like it's well integrated into the car.

Not sure if you are asking questions or making statements (too many questions marks) but regarding the battery maintainer you are right on the mark. The fact is that EVERY luxury car manufacturer, every one, has marketed the CTEK unit with their own brand on it: Mercedes, BMW, Maserati, Bugatti, Bentley, Audi, Rolls Royce, Cadillac, Ferrari….and Jaguar. And they all do it for the same reason: the multiple modules need full power all the time or else they randomly misbehave.
No kit is needed to install the CTEK unit. Just two permanent connections: + to the battery monitor bar and the - to any stud on the trunk floor. From that point on, connecting the CTEK is a 3 second job - and it can be connected for an hour or months at a time with never any damage to the electrical system. The result of using this device is a fully charged battery and no electronic gremlins.

As mentioned above, you want a maintainer, not a charger, per se, and one that handles AGM batteries. But, it IS a really good idea to have one. If you read through the forum, you'll see lots of posts where people got false error readings caused by a battery that wasn't sufficiently charged.

Below is the one I (and many of us) use. Jaguar sells a rebranded CTEK, as do many other brands, including Porsche, so don't worry about getting the "official" version. You can connect the pigtails in the trunk and then easily plug/unplug the charging unit, as needed. (See the "How To" sticky thread for instructions/pictures). It works so well, I've bought an extra pigtail for my lawn tractor and an monitoring unit (pigtail with longer cable and display) for the F-Pace.

CTEK MXS 5.0 CTEK MXS 5.0

BTW, don't push your luck on battery longevity - it can be a bit a pain if the battery dies inside a trunk with an electric latch (usually when the car is locked, you're away from home, and it's raining).

I’d take the advice on the proven CTEK MXS 5.0 unit. This is how I installed the hookup for it towards the front of the car. No need to open hoods or back hatches, etc…

It has worked out perfectly. Super quick and convenient this way. Something which I appreciate, as I always have my car hooked up when not driving in order to keep the battery optimal. This is basically a more convenient version of what they do on dealer floors —>

Default GENIUS10

I have a GENIUS10 it is a 10-amp (150-watt) - 100-240VAC 50-60Hz - 6-volt and 12-volt heavy-duty battery charger, battery maintainer, trickle charger, float charger, and battery desulfator for up to 230 amp-hours. It's designed to charge and maintain all types of sealed lead-acid and lithium-ion (lifepo4) batteries, including flooded, gel, maintenance-free, AGM, SLA, VRLA, as well as automotive, marine, RV, powersports, and deep-cycle batteries. Its advanced battery repair regenerator mode uses slow pulse reconditioner technology to automatically detect battery sulfation and acid stratification, restoring lost battery performance for extended battery life. Works great.

Good point about the Jaguar rebranded ones too. Get it from anywhere BUT the dealer. Just paying for the name.
Yes no need for the kit but I was showing how important Jaguar thought it was that they went to the trouble to release a kit just for this.

After I read on the forum that the dealers used these too. The next time I was at the dealer I took a look around the show room. EVERY Jaguar and Land Rover in the show room was hooked up to a CTEK. I just had not noticed before.

I had the JLR dealer install the Jaguar-branded CTEK when I bought the car. I’ve been very happy with it.
