Default Jaguar F-Type factory assembly line

This video shows the new model F Type sports car being built. It's a good video because it has constant description captions as you watch the video.

Does anybody know what they mean when Jaguar says the f type is built on a shortened xk platform/chassis?

Like what is shared between the two in term of chassis, and what exactly was shortened?

Default a mix of builds

Interesting that commentary speaks to the 'new' models, yet the video, I believe is showing construction of older units... at minute 5:05, it shows an F with the center front intake 'bar', yet 2024 models no longer have that. At minute 5:35, the headlights are more like my 2017s, than the 2024s... then there is Dodge construction mixed in? All in all, very interesting to see how vehicles are built, much different than it was for my E at Browns Lane, for sure.

While I realize that robots ate doing much of the assembly, I am still surprised nobody is required to wear safety goggles

That's a bit of an odd video. Someone took old footage and added comments about the current cars to it. Not to mention that Chrysler stuff. As one can see on the cars and a close up on a spec sheet these are MY18 cars. I had the pleasure of getting a private tour of the whole F-Type production line in 2019 and it looked just like that then.

My 16 with 63k miles has zero rattles. No issues. And it makes me super happy.

To those in the video, thank you.

Yes an odd video? Interesting but the F-Type and the Hellcat don't really seem to flow together?

It looks like the median age is about 60 for the guys working that assembly line. I toured the Castle Bromwich assembly plant in 2019 and it is really "that quiet".

F Types look beautiful in all stages of undress. Love auto factories. Makes you stop and appreciate the material and intellectual capital invested in our machines.

Agreed! I wear safety glasses anytime I am in the workshop. Would feel naked without them!

I did the factory tour November 2019, they were just about to shut the plant down and retool it. The models they had on the line were of the newer model F-Type and they would not let us take pictures or even take our phones onto the factory floor. Thanks for sharing this video!
