Jaguar F-Type V8's first service
Does anyone know the service schedule for the ftype? When is it die for the first service.

You'll find the maintenance schedule in the 'sticky' topic "F-TYPE HOW-TO Guides" at the top of the forum list. First scheduled maintenance is at 16K miles or 1 year.
as far as the regular service intervals after that, I'd still keep them shorter than what the factory calls for. Having previously been in fleet svc for many years, I can attest that an engine with its oil changed frequently lasts much longer, exhibits less seal leakage, etc, than one that doesn't get changed as frequently. Some argue that with the synthetics today it's not necessary, and IMHO, I would disagree. YMMV.
I'd follow the computer in the cars suggestion to change the mobil one type synethetic as its announced or about 10 percent early.
Todays cars with synthetics can go about the mileage you stated in your post. (approximately 5 or 6K miles sounds about right)
No need to change the oil at 1000 miles these days...it was true years ago but I believe with money no object...following the cars computer time table for oil change would be correct.
That's what I would do and please take that for what its worth.
Enjoy that beauty!!! Love the new F type!

The service interval is on an "either/or, which ever comes up first" basis, and a lot of sports cars, especially convertibles don't do the miles. If this is the case, then servicing needs to be every year if the 16k miles is not reached in a year.
Strangely, I'm getting a "service due" message in ~1200 miles and the car only has 900 miles on it. Now I bought it Sept 1, 2013, so perhaps it's doing a prorated calculation - but I don't think it would be than intelligent.
OK, so the oil change at 3 months was misinformation. Sorry. The dealership had changed their minds after ordering in a new oil filter, saying that it did not need to be changed until 12 months, so the posts saying that are correct.
So basically, my 8 year old son is riding shot-gun most of the time.
His unabashed joy is very apparent as he hoots and hollers all the time we're driving in it - yelling out at pedestrians, and other motorists. I live vicariously through his emotions and actions as I'd look like a total *** if I screamed out at other cars as I blew by them at >100mph.
I guess he'll get it in about 10 or 11 years - probably with about 20,000 miles on it at this pace!
Just to share, I've changed oil early on numerous rides. Now, as a proud new owner of a F-Type R Coupe, I will be doing the same for the reasons that follow.
After changing my oil at 1,000-1,300 miles in previous rides (GT-R, M3, GTI, 335i, etc.), I sent clean samples to a lab for analysis. I have used both Blackstone and Dyson labs. Both are good, with Dyson providing more analysis and data.
Their findings have been very consistent in analyzing the break-in oil of each engine, showing high levels of certain elements such as iron and copper (typical of break-in.) The findings also included a look at the effectiveness of my oil and air filtration systems by the presence of insolubles, coolant, fuel, as well as degree of bearing babbitt wear (lead). Subsequent changes (and testing) showed the levels generally improving over time, with engine wear heading in the right direction.
So, why did I change the oil so early? There are many opinions out there on oil changes these days, and many say an early change is simply not needed now, especially with the advent of synthetics. That may be true. I don't know.
What I do know is that I changed my oil early because an oil change does not recover all of the oil--never does--by draining or extracting. There is always some used oil left behind. With metals and assembly sealers at their highest during break-in, I want to remove as much of them as possible.
I also wanted written documentation should I later find my future oil consumption excessive. (I realize what is considered "excessive" is another discussion altogether). And just as importantly, I also had peace of mind that comes with an not-so- inconsiderable investment.
