Default Jaguar Ftype-R AWD fuse/tune to disable FWD (similar to xDrive delete for BMW)

Hello everyone

I've been on the hunt for a nice F-Type R but I've been struggling on getting decided between AWD and RWD. I've searched the subject extensively and can't make up my mind. I was wondering if someone knows if you can safely pull the AWD fuse to make the car completely RWD at will or if there are tuners who can create a map with only RWD similar to the one on BMW xDrive with the xDrive delete map.

Thanking everyone in advance

Best

Al

AIUI, the AWD is pretty much full RWD anyway until the car senses that a bit of front power might be advantageous to keep you on the road.

I'm not sure why you would want to do that as you'd still have the weight penalties of AWD but none of the benefits. An AWD model hobbled to RWD won't drive like either of them.

@scm @Thunder Dump thank you both for answering promptly. I'm actually looking to modify the car performance wise. Regardless, I wouldn't worry too much about power as 550 for a 2000kgs car is still okay. I just wanted to know if it's possible to have the option to turn the car into drift mode when needed. Have you heard of anyone pulling this off?

Yeah the transfer case has an actuator motor similar to the rear diff. So yes you can reprogram the Bosch control module and add an auxiliary control. You can do that to the rear diff as well. Highly recommend upgrading the diff clutch pack. Blew my diff up 3 times due to drifting. Will need a paramount upgraded radiator.. possibly hollow out ur thermostat or get a high flow . Additional auxillary bypass water pump. Get an upgraded high flow for primary. Highly recommend e85.. mine is tuned for flex fuel.

Easy/hack way to do it would be to pull power to the transfer case clutch motor when it's open, which would lock the car in RWD only, but you would likely get fault messages during operation if not done in a way that doesn't **** the ECU off. The center diff is normally 'open' when reversing or turning at slow speed/light load, so you could rig something up fairly simply. I've not seen anyone 'tune' it out, it's not controlled by the PCM so you would need access to the other modules that run the system.
