Default Jaguar InContol Apps

http://www.jaguar.com/jaguar-range/f-type/features-options/multimedia.html

Found out yesterday that Coupes being ordered next month have this as an option. My dealer just found out about it too and doesn't know much about it. He tried finding out more, and was only told that it 'was not just a software upgrade'. I don't know if the whole infotainment center is new hardware, or if it just means an adapter box to add smartphone direct connectivity is added to the existing system. My Coupe will not have this when it arrives, but would be nice to be able to get it added... Especially if it eventually supports Waze.
Anyone know more details about upgradeability?

Talked about in this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...rtible-117112/

Word is that it won't be available until August and it can't be added retroactively. I would wait for official word from Jaguar on that last bit.

Yes, thats the same info the dealer had, though its very unclear to them on whether or not there is an upgrade path. Its definitely more than just a firmware patch.
Usually I get to wait 2 years for my car's electronics to be out of date. This time the car hasn't even arrived yet and it happened.

The way I understand this option, your phone has to be tethered to the car--it is not bluetooth. If this is true, I would rarely, if ever use this option. I just don't like the hassle of every time I get in the car needing to remember to take my phone out of my pocket and plug it in to "marvel" at a couple of tricks. Then, having to remember to unplug the phone and take it with me whenever I get out of the car. I probably would have checked this option if available when I placed my coupe order, but it doesn't cause me any buyer's remorse to have missed the ordering window.

I believe you're right on the tether. I've read that the Land Rover branch is experimenting with the WiFi connection capabilities. I usually keep my favorite toys long-term. The entertainment system on modern cars is out of date in 2 years anyway, so there was no point in delaying my delivery for another build slot. I do miss the aspect of analog cars that, not every aspect of the car is tied to the same system.
