Holy crap. I bought the 1st model year in 2016. Now I have the last model year 2019. Any of my people want a "manual gearbox preservation society" sticker? I've got license plate frames too lol. Still wanna do a vanity plate MNTRNNY ☺️

I guess my new build was the last Manny for 2019MY? With the pics the factory sent me, I should just cover it and store it for a few decades. Pretty rare!!

Edit: not my fault x2

Might consider a new vanity plate as Man Tranny is a likely interpretation. How about STKSHFT?

MTs are a "theft deterrent" these days. Be sure to ask for the discount from your insurance company!

I wouldn't have guessed the buying demographic is so different from the F-Type R as they are probably the most direct competitor.

I think it was more likely misdirected Jag marketing strategy. Advertising in general is non-existent. People ask me almost everyday, what kind of car is it?
Guess what! Corvette dropping the MT for 2020. Only a dual clutch will be available.

I'm on my second F-type MT -- so I've done my part.

Once again technology triumphs nostalgia.

It took a long time, but the AT these days is simply better at doing the job it's supposed to do than we are. Don't get me wrong: I didn't order until I could get a manual transmission, but if another year went by without one I might have bought anyway. No one uses carburetors either, because a good FI system can do what a carburetor can do at its best, but it can do it all the time. If the Apocalypse starts with an EMP my FI is screwed, but I'd run out of decent gasoline soon enough anyway. Frankly, I don't miss carburetor tuning. Plug chops on my old TZ were a pain.

I'm a neo-luddite in some ways, but I'm not wearing blinders.

The sooner the manual goes the better. Move on, a trans axle DCT provides so much better performance and is more fun... If we all thought like this we would living in the dark ages.

You know what provides even better performance? Self-driving electric car.

I love when someone gets a vanity plate that is misinterpreted.

This will make the MT cars that more desirable down the road (IMHO). I'm so happy I ordered my 2016 S exactly like I wanted it. BTW, never had a problem with the clutch slipping. Putting the short-shifter on there made it perfect (thanks Unhinged)!

+1. This will likely be my last automotive acquisition.

Yeah, mine too, so there are at least three 2016 F Type S owners with MTs here that are happy with their choice. I'll likely be happier once I get the short shifter installed. But that is going to take some weather cooperation. It finally got above zero here today in Chicago for the first time since Tuesday morning. I realized this week that my garage will get below the freezing point when it is -27F (-32C) at night. The cat is in hibernation.

It’s supposed to be half decent today; makes me want to take my car out for a drive. I was thinking of trading in but now I’m not so sure; it has to be a rare car.

In the Driving.ca article it says:

While the manual option will be killed in the U.S. and in Canada, it will live on in its home in the U.K.
I don't understand why JLR wouldn't have simply limited the MT to special orders only -- meaning, if you bought a new one to spec, they'd give you the MT. If they are still maintaining the MT parts for the UK market, why not have it available for North America? If this quote is true, I have to think the MT will come back again for MY2021... or maybe that's just wishful thinking???
