Default Jaguar Project 7 Grill Front Crash Impact Bar Cover

So as it turns out, the 2021-2023 Jaguar F-type uses the same front impact bar that the previous generation uses. The part number is T2R58458. For the Project 7, they actually used a different front impact bar, as the tow hook was in a slightly different location. Those are nearly impossible to find, but that part number is T2R18829 in case anyone ever wanted to go on the hunt. What I just learned however is because the 2021 and later F-Types now have an open grill design, JLR created a plastic cover that attached to the impact bar. In theory, this should also work for the 14-20 models using the same clip in design. Understandably, the cost to buy and add this might make some just rather paint or wrap the impact bar, but if you wanted a more OEM look, here is the part number that should snap in (and align to the existing tow hook hole, even though it would not be accessible through the Project 7 grill.

T2R42272

I do not know if there would be any fitment issues, but based on what I see as far as space goes, I think it would fit back there just fine and probably make the finished look pretty close to OEM.

Here is what it looks like installed on the 21+ MY. Not my car, but a friend of mine sent these to me. Seems like it sits nicely behind the grill and I have to assume seeing the impact bar and frame rails are the same part numbers, this would work for those of us with a Project 7 grill. Guess I will find out soon enough.

It brings the bar a couple inches forward visually behind the grill and does clean up the unfinished metal parts look without it. My question would be that since there is a propensity of black plastic to turn kinda grey, should there be a painted or wrapped surface applied to it that so you don't have to pull the nose off later to bring it back to black?

Great info from Skizot, as usual! For ***** and giggles, I researched the P7 crash bar you referenced and it is priced higher than the grill (1400 GBP w/out VAT).
Please update us on the fit of the cover -- it's a nice, clean look to add. Thanks again, Ski

Cool Idea! Good info. I did not like all the mess showing back there either, so I used a piece of vinyl I had and wrapped it and did a pretty good job as well. You could use thin PVC wood trim piece and wrap or paint too? Here is how mine was done...Just another option.

A very elegant and inexpensive solution by Therock88. Congratulations for the ingenuity, but I'll still wait to see how Skizot's part works.

Here is another random pic I found online, further back, that does a good job of showing how the plastic cover looks installed on the current generation F-Type. My order is in process. No idea when it will come or when I will have time to install, BUT I will post up when I can. Rock88 solution is probably a more economic one for sure.

As I read it, theses solutions are cosmetic but do not relocate the towing eye mount to the P7 location. Were the towing eye needed, it wouldn't work. Am I misreading? If not, the options I see to maintain towing eye use are:

1) Cut the P7 grille parts for the standard location
2) Modify the bar to relocate the mounting point
3) Get a P7 bar
4) Accept that the towing eye won't work

I think three options are represented here. I tried to source a P7 bar a few years ago and was unsuccessful. I'd like to retain use of the towing eye.

correct. Tow hood won’t be usable. However probably better and smarter to tow onto flatbed via rear axle and backwards. So while no tow hook would work without modifying as you stated. This is the sacrifice you have to take. Unless you want to buy or retro fit from crash bar.

I really like this idea, and would like to have a cover made and ready to go when I pull everything apart to install my grill. Thanks for the measurements provided, but the width of the coverplate isn't listed. Any idea how wide the plate should be?

Second picture 1/8" thick X 2 1/2" wide. Am I not understanding your question?

EDIT: If you are asking how LONG the piece is...I do not recall. It is the same length +/- as the foam piece that comes out. It does not have to be exact...Just longer than the grill opening.

Note...You will need to notch around the tow receiver.

Yes, I was asking for the overall length - please excuse my request. I was taught that width is measured from left to right, but I guess it depends on how you are looking at it. Either way, your post has been super-helpful and I appreciate your response

Cover came in. Waiting on grill surround to get painted so I can install. Here is a rough idea on how it will look.

Obviously will look way different once installed and all black behind the grill.

My P7 surround and grill like yours showed up last Thursday. I was impressed with the quality and pleased that it will fit the first time without a lot of dicking around by the installer. I was suprised to see that yours came white also. For some reason I thought you had it wrapped......or maybe it was someone else. Now that you've got the new foam crashbar cover, do you think it was worth it?

My surround is getting paint matched the same gloss black right now, so I should have it back this week and maybe if time permits coming up, I can do the install. Would love to know that out. As for the impact bar cover, still not sure I won't have fitment issues, but we will see. Overall I think it will look good once done, so far no regrets, let's talk once I have actually done the install.

I have Vehicle Revolution P7 grill and I am not sure if this will fit... Anybody tried? It seems that the plastic is almost touching the grill, and I am not sure if the replica have the same pane as original... And parking sensors...

@J444G Sorry I never finished this thread. The 2021-2023 cover does in fact work with some modifications. I later learned they made a similar cover for the P7 that was a direct fit, but good luck trying to find one. I had to cut out the bumper reinforcements on both sides as the shape of the front bumper from the 21-23 is obviously different than the earlier MY. With that said, once those pieces were cut out, you cannot tell once the bumper cover was put back on. Here are some behind the scene and final pictures from last year I never uploaded.
