JCNA incentive - cancelled
#41
I agree that the likely cause for abruptly cancelling the program is the level if shiny new members taking advantage of it - whether due to friends, forums, or even dealers. But, Jaguar has no one but themselves to blame. If they only wanted old-time members or current owners, they could have made it a loyalty program like other manufacturers have had in the past, or put a minimum tenure, like BMW. I don't see that as the Club's fault. Something like the 1-yr approach seems very reasonably and I wouldn't be surprised if the program returns in that form after a polite interval (and/or when ramped up production on the new models exceeds sales).
Meanwhile, I agree with Nookieman that the F-Type has been a big winner in reviews (and with most of us), but hasn't driven enough sales volume to be a strong financial success. There are a finite number of people ready to spend $100k on a toy. However, I think the F-Type's true value to the brand far exceeds sales on the model alone. Reviews are great publicity for the brand, not just the model. And, look at how many public comments we get from the broader public. I believe the new models they are introducing will drive significant increases in volume (at the entry level) and profit (in the SUV arena). F-Type has done its part to prime the market.
Look at Ford GT's, NSX, Viper, GTR's, and, to some degree, even 'vettes as examples where a model serves as a showcase for the brand.

Yes - I was even being given quotes including the JCNA discount without asking for it.
When I went back to negotiate a deal to include discount they informed me the JCNA discount was already included. They have a club they work with to get folks enrolled.
Make me wonder how many people got signed up for JCNA w/o knowing discount and the dealer keeping more margin for themselves...

It was an out of state dealer.
I was shopping country looking for what was left in 2015s. Went after the best deal / options I could find.
I spoke to Jaguar Norwood but they seems less than interested in helping me after I explained I wanted a 2015 vs 2016.

As disappointing as this is, I think it's wrong to blame JCNA for this program going away.
These are manufacturer programs, they are only administered or promoted by the car clubs. The BMW CCA, for example, runs the program on behalf of BMW - including cutting the checks - but BMW makes the rules and conditions. BMWCCA simply follows the rules BMW set.
That's all JCNA did. These are, after all, just marketing incentives dressed up as loyalty programs. Jaguar should have one. BMW and MB have owner rebates run via their owner clubs.
Whatever the reasons Jaguar had to remove this program, it's not the fault of the car club.
It's short sighted to take it away though. Jag sales in the U.S. are soft and declining year on year. The XE/F-Pace will help, but until they are here they brand needs support.

JCNA discount.
Interesting. I just received my July-August Jaguar Journal. Inside is a short article that says: "From now until the end of March 2016, JCNA members can receive large discounts on lease or purchase of a new Jaguar....All details are available to your dealer in JLR-NA sales bulletin: #JSOB15-37."
Further is says: "New purchase or lease, Model Year 2014-2015 Jaguars."
Discounts: XF all models $1500. XJ, XK, & F-TYPE, all models, $2500.
2016 models are not mentioned. So maybe that's it. They are giving an incentive/rebate to clear out the existing older inventory only.

That 6-month minimum club membership is a requirement that Audi has had for quite a while. The Audi Club discount is 6% off MSRP of any Audi model. Also you can apply the Audi Loyalty Discount on top of that, which varies depending on the model: $750 on a TT, and $1500 on an A7, for example.
Agree with Merlin, this makes sense. And yes, what are the new terms?

JLR apparently wised up. However, since it took 7.5 months to deliver my car, I would have still qualified under the new program.
