That may be reason alone to buy it

All day long I am busy enough to not think about it...then at night, I lay in bed and just stare at it....

I guess I gotta decide here pretty quick.

I wouldn't rush into it unless your 100% sure, there is a lot of inventory out there and I doubt lease rates are going to be changing any time soon. Doesn't hurt to phone several dealers, you might find a better deal.

Hi,

I would also like to lease, but am unsure of the final costs. What is the out the door money down and monthly I'd be looking at for the f-type coupe (MSRP: 68K)

New Jaguar Lease Specials and Lease Deals in Paramus, NJ

According to the dealer, its 5,000 down and 439 a month, but it excludes taxes and other fees.

I've never leased a car before, so what would all those other fees add to out the door and would there be anything additional to add to the 439/mo?

A rough estimate is all I'm looking for. Thanks.

Well the tax for sure...in 90% of states you pay tax on the portion of the vehicle that your payment covers....

So on a 75k car, if someone does a 3yr lease at 1k month, your taxed on that 1k per month or 36k (total).

Depending on your state, that tax may be due with the payment, or in my case, the tax is due upfront for my entire portion. So I would have to pay the sales tax off of 36k at signing.

There are a few terrible leasing states where you pay the tax on the total price of the vehicle...if you live in one of those states, don't lease.

Actually I think I figured it out after reading and doing a bunch of calculations. It would be actually 5k (down, first month, fees) and then another 5k cap cost reduction + taxes. So then out the door I'd be looking at putting down 10k and getting the car for 439 a month.

Please let me know if I am correct. Thanks

The 10k down is basically buying down the lease payment to the tune of 10k divided by the least term each month.

The question you have to ask is whether that 10k is better in your pocket or Chase Financial's pocket.

I'd personally take the view that money down on a lease is a bad idea. It's simply prepaying part of the lease payment up front.

I would agree with you if it worked like that, but the way it is shown is if you put 5k down, its 699 a month, if you put 10k down, its 439 a month. That's a $260 difference a month. Multiply that by 36 and that's $9360, which is a $4.3k savings.

Let me know if you disagree

Can you post your whole deal? Ideally both deals. Down payments on leases work exactly as I describe assuming all other lease terms remain the same. Is it possible that the residual and/or money factor changes because of the additional down payment?

Some banks allow you to buy down the interest rate for a lease but chase does not.

That's right, but dealers can and do mark up the money factor if they can get away with it. If you're going to lease and have top tier credit you should always verify that you are getting the buy rate.

How do you verify you are getting the buy rate?

You ask either the sales or general manager to show you a copy of the monthly programs

Thanks, never done that but I have called around to find the lowest, which may well correlate.

Someone else can give you a concrete answer, but the mf seems high. I got a better number I think, and I got mine near the end of the year.

Also, why the big down payment? It also seems excessively high...
