Default Like A Fine Wine [A Friendly Reminder]

...and to F-Type newcomers here and those yet to acquire their F-Types.

Today I drove my 2015 V6S F-Type to work - 30 miles one way (eh, 60 round trip) - and with 1,500+ miles on the odometer I've definitely noticed a [newly-discovered] pronounced growl coming from my exhausts. Some of this is surely due to the fact that my revs are edging higher and higher but even at lower revs - as the car's been breaking in - I've definitely been noticing a deeper more fuller sound coming from my gorgeous tail-pipes.

And like breaking in new stereo speakers/equipment or letting a fine wine age - even if not all wines benefit from aging - the sounds coming from my car (which were there from the onset) which are further enhanced the more miles I'm putting on it, is music to my ears. It gets better with age/miles! Or, as The Beatles would say, "it's getting better all the time".

Something to think about (and possibly already discussed here; hence a friendly reminder to new-comers and/or soon-to-be F-Type owners).

P.S. I'm glad I got today's thrilling - as always - drive in since, what else is new, it's snowing like a bas%#%^ here tonight!!!

Ricky Jay. I too have a V6 S. I have close to 5000 miles now and I never get sick of the snap, crackle and pop. I noticed a big difference when I was able to use dynamic mode at 2500 miles. This one little toggle is so awesome it enhances everything, including the exhaust. Maybe I'm nuts and it's not noticeable, but for me it is. This car is so much fun my wife wants to take it away. Lmao. Have fun.

Agreed Tar1018 and I'm in Dynamic Mode 99% of the time and it's simply a joy to drive every single time. As you know!

Best regards,
Jay

Thank you Jay and Tar for keeping me focused on the prize. During my marathon wait, my thoughts occasionally start drifting towards other marques. Comments like yours keep me from straying.

This is the only car that gives me a big smile every time I step in it. I hate having to get out of it whenever I reach my destination.

Can't have that Lance. That would be cheating!

The fact of the matter is, and from what I can surmise from both your postings and our very pleasant conversations, my strong belief is your F-Type will be everything you're expecting and more. Trust in Jay!

This is one of those times when good things - nay, great things - come to those who wait. You shall be handsomely rewarded for your great patience.

Best regards,
Jay

Then don't!

While this has been true for a number of great (and even not-so-great) automobiles I've been fortunate to own over the years kingking79 - particularly if one loves driving (mostly a given here on this Forum) - there's simply no question that this car - with its briiliant styling, stunning good looks, intoxicating sounds (all of them), drivability, etc. is indeed a very special car and I do agree with you completely.

Just remember, it's not about the destination but the journey.

That's interesting. When I first picked up my RS5 (which also has an active exhaust system), the dealer told me the exhaust note would get throatier after a few thousand km's. I didn't contradict him, but did give give him this sort of look...

But he was absolutely correct.

When you think about it, it actually makes sense. Smarter people than I here (you know who you are) can surely give a proper explanation but "burning in' stereo equipment certainly has provided me with better sound...to put it simply.

So why not the F-Type? I can attest - even at 1,500+ miles - it does.

Great post Ricky Jay. I have 2500 miles on my car now and I'm definitely loving the higher intensity of the exhaust. It takes immense self control to not go dynamic and paddle shifting mode when I'm around big crowds!! Or tunnels for that matter.

One thing that is very impressive to me is how refined the car is on a daily basis in normal mode and automatic. It's quiet and luxurious enough to enjoy the ride in traffic. The ride quality isn't too harsh either for the most time. The only time I find it stiff is after driving the Range.

Thank you Trakrzy. There's NO WAY I could possibly NOT go Dynamic & Paddle (as I've said, those are de rigueur for me anyway) through a tunnel! (I just wish the state of Maine had any). I even enjoy road-side barriers [walls] and/or trees; anything which the sound of the exhaust can resonate off of.

I also agree that the F-Type is a very refined piece of automobile engineering, never mind a freakin' work of art.

Best regards and happy driving.
Jay

You're sure you didn't have chili for breakfast? Oh, you mean the car's exhaust.

You have something against chili DJS? The snow (and maybe even the cold) is getting to you. Chili is just what the doctor ordered on days - weeks, months, urgh - like this.

Cheers!
Jay

I have something against chili that isn't smokin' hot. You just talked me into making some this weekend.

At the risk of prolonging this line of subject matter within this thread;

Why not, the F-Type is smokin' hot. (Corny as that sounds).

Separately - and I'm not kidding - cooking is one of my many passions and I have tons of recipes I'd be happy to share with you (including, yes, chili and many others incorporating chili flakes). Just PM me and let me know.

I now return you to your normally scheduled thread, already in progress.

You could combine your two passions - driving and cooking - with the cookbook
Manifold Destiny Manifold Destiny
, though good luck finding much room under your hood.

Well, next to the real thing - my driving - if that doesn't put a b-r-o-a-d smile on anyone's face, you have real problems.

Thanks for that MarcusXFR (even if it was directed to our patient friend Lance)!

Greatly appreciated, Marcus. I'm glad to see I'm upgrading from a 59:98 to a 58:77 car. A bit of suspension, ECU, and SC tuning and I should be able to do a bit better.
