after having the 35k check-up, the dealer decided to detail the car with the spider-web hologram scratch option;
i've never used an orbital polisher beofre - did everything by hand;
decided to try meguiar's da polisher and compound and polish;
then sealed with optigloss;
batman plate covers previous dealer installed screw holes for state that required font plate;
You can get some black plugs to go in the plate mounting holes. They'll still be visible, but not as much.
Congratulations on getting set up for polishing. It takes a little time, but with the right frame of mind is a relaxing exercise. Looks nice!
Yep, one of the first things I did was plug those holes.
Front (and rear) plates are mandatory here in Oz and you would not last 5 minutes without one before you were pulled over by the po-po and issued a ginormous fine with a good chance of your car being impounded and you being chucked in the clink. It really is that big a heinous crime here, we can't have evil criminals evading automated speed and red light cameras by not having a front or rear number plate!
Anyways, my car came from NSW with no plates and had obviously been fitted with a hideous extra wide plate holder, so once I had fitted normal width plates I was left with two ugly holes in the front grill cross piece, one each side of the number plate. I simply stuck a gloss black self tapping screw in each one, the same type of screws I used to affix the number plate. A couple of small rubber plugs or grommets would probably be better but I have never been able to find a pair of them in the right size.
