looking to buy an F-Type in Australia - in 2025
Hi folks, I want an F-Type but know nothing about the car. There is one less than 40k and another less than 60k. I read the other post about a guy looking at getting one in the US and I am sure it will be different here in Aus.
1. May I know what potential big items I should budget for? i.e. timing chain or big 60k, 100k surprises?
2. body items I should be aware of? leaks? falling trims? sagging?
3. anything else that you can tell me
Cheers

But the big thing is the coolant lines can melt/become brittle and fail on you. Changing them to aluminum oem & aftermarket is a good bit of preventative maintenance.
About all I can say that is relatively unique to Oz is that used F-Type Rs (the V8) are very thin on the ground, no more than 3 or 4 at any given time and occasionally 5, and even then 90% are in/from NSW so you would be paying a motza in stamp duty. And the colour choice is very limited, nearly all are white or black with the odd red one.
And they cost a helluva lot more than the V6, like $40,000 more for an equivalent year/spec/mileage.
But I guess you are looking at/for a V6.
A lot more V6s either base or S available but again mainly NSW although a few in/from Vic.
One tip if you a looking for a V6 - very very common for a seller to misdescribe a base model as an S so be careful and have a good look at at any pics to see if it's an S or a base, the main/easiest thing to tell from pics is the base 355 mm front brakes vs S 380 mm.
I don't think the misadvertising is deliberate but due to the fact that they are supercharged so most ad sites refer to them as "S" for supercharged and hey presto a base becomes an S!
The S has a few more neddies (380 vs 340), the bigger front brakes, active suspension, LSD and 95% of the time the better seats ("performance" vs "sports").
