Question Looking to move from BMW 650gc to V6S...questions

Hello all,

First post and looking for some advice.

I currently have a BMW 650xi Gran Coupe and looking to get something a bit more fun to drive.

I've been considering a F-type V6S awd.

1. What are the best / needed options to have?
2. I will only purchase certified cars. Does the extended warranty cover service or is that extra?
3. For anyone in a snow area (like northeast) how is it to drive November - March?
4. What should I look for when purchasing? Any gotcha's I should be aware of?

I am not sure if I want a coupe of convertible. Although I love drops, the coupe is very, very sexy (with the panoramic roof)

Love to hear from you all and hopefully join the community.

3. I live in Toronto and drive it all year, switching to snows in November.
5. Coupe is more elegant and has more trunk room. Panoramic is great. Had convertible E92 before but only used in topless in the in-between-days with like 24C temps.

Coupe is probably more gorgeous than the convertible, but how gorgeous do you need? (Rhetorical question.) The convertible is outrageous fun with the top down, and you won't hear the exhaust as well in the coupe. Make sure you test drive one, if you're on the fence at all.

I store mine for the winter, so no comment on winter handling. But a number of folks do drive theirs in the snow.

I'm going to look to test drive both sometime this month.

I had a Miata back in the day and drove with the top down if the sun was out, even in the winter. Storage however worries me on the drop.

How gorgeous, well the BMW is a sexy beast (black/red) so I like a very nice looking car. I am thinking the pano roof may be enough but again , I will drive both and see which one will make me grin more

But you won't get that with an AWD. Snow tires with an RWD in NJ are more than adequate. Just ask RickyJay52 in Maine.

I don't really need a manual so that is something if I get okay but not really sweating it.

AWS vs RWD is different. I had a CL500 and driving in the winter sucked. I also had an Audi TT V6 coupe and really liked it hence me leaning towards AWD. There are many RWD available in the used market. Not sure I can afford new at this point unless the deals are great. Want to spend $60k

This will be my daily driver.

I'm trying to understand the packages. I want to make sure I have any performance related package like the dynamic settings. Not sure if they are standard on the V6S.

Got a beautiful in-the-wrapper '15 base coupe in white that's going back to Jaguar next month...only 7500 miles and the payoff is $45k,lol.

In order of importance for me: Vision Package, Blind Spot Monitors, Performance Seats, Pano Roof if coupe or you might get claustrophic, ideally you should like the wheels that are already on the car so you don't have to change them out. Later on, paint correction and opticoat or ceramic coating.

A black interior is nice but a contrasting interior color will make it stand out.

Coupe = sexy. Convertible = eargasm. I'm glad I got the latter.

I had a BMW 650i coupe (manual transmission) and went to the V6 F-Type coupe (also a stick). The best thing I could have done. The driving experience doesn't even compare. Mine is a 2017 and it had 4500 miles on it. I compared it to getting a new one, and the base model, with just a few extras is all I wanted. Fulll leather seats would be nice, but not for the price up. The CPO warranty doesn't cover any service. I live in Texas, so we only get snow 3 days a year. I didn't find any gotcha's when I bought it and nothing has shown up since. It's a solid every day driver and the service department is outstanding.

Are you.. me? The service department in Dallas has a month and a half waitlist

Also had a 650i- You'll really miss the back seats and luxury, but the drive is a lot more enjoyable.

Gotta be more like us who flipped from the 6 to the F.

I can't say I miss the back seat yet (kids are driving now) and the stick shift in the BMW was always hindered by my coffee in the morning. Much happier now.

Park Place Jaguar got me in for a repair to my window 2 days after the part came in (something inside the door was etching the driver's window). Loaner car and all. I've never had any experience with the Jag dealership on central though.

If you haven't seen them, there are several threads related to this issue.

Default Buying extended warranty

I found a perfect (for me) Type R but it's not at a Jaguar dealer. I really want to be covered 100k miles. Would Jaguar certify the car or what's the best warranty one can get with these?
