Default Looking for a transporter

Hi yall, I'm Looking for a reliable car transporter for a new 2020 f type, to travel from California to New York. A balance of quality and price is paramount. I'm not necessarily looking for an enclosed trailer but I am looking for someone that is only a car transporter.

An airline ticket is the most reliable and fastest way. Its a gorgeous drive and the only time you'll be able to open the car up if you are going to cage it in NY.

If you can't make the trip yourself, look at "Reliable" car carriers. Yes that's the name of the company.

Drive it. You won’t worry the guy scratched the front lip, if it’s on a truck.

The best answer is to drive it, but sometimes that's not practical and with the distance you're shipping it would take some time commitment, too.

The thread Mahjik linked is spot on with the breakdown of the process. It seems like a very shady industry and getting solid information is nearly impossible because you're dealing with brokers who never see the cars they're hiring out to transporters. You also don't know who will show up to do the job and have to take a leap of faith the broker only calls the ones they never have issues with. The review sites all seemed a little biased and I found them hard to trust, but ultimately Yelp pulled through where I wasn't expecting. Many transporter companies register on there as a local business in popular metropolitan areas and I found it was much easier to get seemingly honest reviews than elsewhere.

I shipped mine from CT to UT in the middle of December and enclosed was the only way to go. Have you ever seen how cars come off of an open trailer? They're trashed. Throw a snow storm on top of it and you might second guess the extra few bucks to keep your new car nice from day one.

Ultimately I went with Patriot Auto Transport (Patriot Auto Transport - INSTANT Car Shipping Quote Online) who were able to get a pickup the evening of the day I called and had it in my driveway 4 days later. The price was reasonable and it didn't have any damage so I'd use them again. Availability depends on your location and if there are any shippers nearby so chalk that up to dumb luck.

When I called Reliable Carriers (who seems to be the premium option in this space), they quoted me a pickup date 2 MONTHS out and about a grand more than I ended up paying.

Another thing is just have the dealer arrange shipping.

Pilot Transportation. they own their own fleet and drivers work for the company (not a broker)
