Default looking at 03's again, but....

This one puzzles me a bit:

Jaguar : XK XK8 Jaguar : XK XK8 - eBay (item 261056095918 end time Jul-02-12 09:18:31 PDT)

I messaged the seller and asked about the ownership trail and the price (way up there). I forgot to ask about maintenance records, but noticed he/she said he/she has only driven it a few times. Odd. Also odd: Only 2000 or less miles since it was brought out to California in 2008. The seller is listed as being in SLC, UT. I told the seller the opening price was what I'd expect an XKR with navigation and records to be near.

Anyway...opinions? Anyone know this XK8?

Any eBay seller with a rating of less than about 25 gets a big IGNORE from me. Hers is what....zero? Watch it for fun but don't get serious. I'd only consider it if it were literally in my neighborhood so I could swing by and check it out in person.

I'm in Salt Lake and haven't seen this car. I have only seen 1 other XK.
I bought mine in Sept and have put less than 1000 miles on it. I didn't drive it at all during the winter (salty roads).

Hmmmmm, yes. Could be worse. Could be a Craigslist car.

Aren't there some safeguards on ebay purchases? I am also looking for '03 up xk. I look on ebay at times, but haven't had the nerve to bid on one yet.

If that one is ligit and you like the color etc..........looks like a nice car. I personally would prefer one without the navi system, as they are obsolete and can't be upgraded. Beginning price is closer to actual value than what they are asking.

I am looking for an xkr so I either get the obsolete nav system, or might try to upgrade to an '07 xk. Just can't swing the price of '07 xkr..........damn

Good luck in your search and I hope you find what you want.

Darrell

I've had my '03 XKR for about 17 months. I've only put 3,200 mi. on it since the purchase date. I just use it for date nights, evening cruises, or when I need to feel cool, haha!

A lot of people have a rating of 0 on Ebay, especially when selling a car. Why?
Because they have never sold anything on Ebay before; so, they have no ratings.

A lot of high income people may buy off Ebay, but, I imagine the number that sell is rather low. For many, if not most, XK owners, the XK is not their primary driver.

I think somebody did a poll on that on the Forum a while back.

The car looks like it's parked in a nice neighborhood, for what that's worth. It looks
like it's in amazing condition. Most XK owners whether they bought new or used tend
to pamper they hell out of their babies.

The NAV units in these cars are useless. Smartphones, or a tablet with Google maps
are the way to go in my humble opinion.

Maybe MRomnik can do an inspection for you. A gift certificate to a good restaurant for his efforts might be a smart way to go, given that he is already a big fan of the XK.

Good luck.

Well, there's low miles, and there's this one at 1800 miles in 4 years. That's really, really undriven. I don't drive mine nearly as much as I'd like to anymore, but 450 miles a year is just around town a few times.

It is a nice color, though. The little rubber tray insert in front of the shifter is missing.

The price is just too out of the market, though. Waaay out.

Looks nice, but$25K???
To even start to get near to that price there are a number of things that would have to be done. Even then, not sure it justifies 25K.
Looking at the upper shock mounts I am curious. The right side is centered and gray?
The left side is off centered.

Or, quite likely, the car has been stored undriven for weeks or months. As we never tire of observing, few things are worse for a car unless considerable proper precautions are taken.

Ask them if they've replaced the convertible hydraulics!

Hard for me to see that--there is some reflection going on I think.
