Default Loud Thud - Rear Shock Lower Bush or Top Mount Replacement?

Hi all,

Getting a fairly loud clunk from the back of my MY14 V6S with 48k miles. It's much more pronounced when coming off the throttle quickly above say 2500 rpm at most lower speeds, but you also hear it even coming out the garage if any undulation. I've already replaced the coil isolators, which ironically after about 200 miles actually made it worse. LSD oil was changed about 5000 miles ago. I've re-secured the battery. Garage can't see exactly where the problem is, but suspect it could well be the subframe bushes as there is some play, but before attempting those has recommended replacing the lower shock bush and top mounts.

Has anyone done this before? Did resolve your issue? When he called Jaguar about the subframe bushes they said they'd never sold a single bush which caused him to think again and perhaps replace the shock bushes. since it's a cheaper job, but the risk they may need to come off twice.

Thoughts?

There was a TSB for MY14 for rear-end clunks, though mainly when turning at low speeds. I haven’t located the TSB, but I think it added sleeves. My car didn’t need it.

Thanks, but I've already tried that a few months ago and it didn't help My issue is happening at all speeds when on\off the throttle.

You may also want to check all of the heat shields and exhaust system where it crosses the support members. There are a ton of items under the car that are very close to the exhaust, and when you accel/decel and the exhaust pipes move a bit, they can hit and make the sound you are referring to. Similarly with the heat shields bumping exhaust or even drive shafts.

Just something I would look into as well.

Good luck.

I had a rear-end clunk that turned out to be a leaking motor mount above the transmission. Motor mount was replaced and no clunk anymore.
