Default Lower crank pulley VAP or EuroToys

So I know that most of us here have gone with the VAP lower crank pulley, but I wondering if anyone has installed the lower pulley from EuroToys. The EuroToys lower pulley is 11.3% larger vs. the VAP lower pulley, which is 11.8% larger. What real difference would the .5% in circumference make to boost? Would there be any other significant differences between the two? They are both constructed of the same aluminum, but the EuroToys is anodized black for some reason? Why?

VAP offers both an aluminum pulley as well as a steel pulley. There has been quite a bit of discussion regarding which is better on another thread. I am firmly convinced that the aluminum pulley is a better solution with the manual transmission for quicker up shifts. I have the Eurotoys pulley. It is a very similar design to the VAP pulley and I measured the difference at 11.6% over the OEM pulley. Both VAP and Eurotoys produce quality products.

Take it for what its worth, but I would go with Eurotoys. LOL.

The black anodizing hardens the aluminum and makes it somewhat less noticeable being black. We have been making them like that to help avoid detection at the dealers (since 2002).

Mr. Unhinged is right, 11.6%.

The pulley may be stealthy black but the green supercharger belt is going to be harder to disguise from the dealer ;-)

We figured that out quite awhile ago and have a fix for that. No problem.

I suspect that both pulleys are so close in diameter that there`s not a relevant or significant difference.

We offer in both aluminum & steel. Aluminum has the advantage of being lighter, but the OEM pulley is rubber mass damped, and some feel the steel, with a little added mass is going to provide more damping of vibration between charger & crank.

Have you noticed significantly increased vibration at idle? I have the XF mainly for the kid in a carseat. So I won;t mind a little extra vibration.

Also, wondering if Stuart from VAP has anyone in Dallas that they have a working relationship with for dyno tuning. Stohlen did an awesome write up on the R&R for the crank pulley which took the DIY jitters away. so I will probably install it myself.

No, not at all.

Alright! I will need to have the guys at VAP look at my datalog files after the install because I want to know what a 50shot will do with the tune and lower pulley combo. Pretty sure that they will need to adjust something in the tune. Stuart, can I pm you regarding this? I spoke with Chris about sending you datalogs a few months ago and I have the OBDMx and the ScanXL software.

I have heard about LG Motorsports. They are opening up a race track up there, but I didn't know they were tuning as well. Trip to Anna wouldn't be so bad.

Hi Guys,
As a fairly new guy here, I am still learning the ins and outs of my F-Type. Have been watching the pulley threads and trying to decide if adding a pulley to my '17 V6 will work or add anything to it. I understand any additions at this point can/could void warranty.

Most nitrous kits include their own system to deal with afrs and other factors. The stock ECU doesn't have nitrous parameters or any way to tell that you are using nitrous, so it cannot adapt accordingly other than trying to fight a lean condition, which is a recipe for engine failure.

That being said, you're not the first to spray on this engine. Those who have may chime in for you. Perhaps a separate thread?

I believe you'd want to get an ECU tune before just the pulley as the stock tune doesn't know how to deal with the extra boost and may flag a check engine light.

Of course as you may have seen on a couple of threads on this board around that topic, there seems to be a Dirty Harry theme of "do you feel lucky punk, well do ya?" in regards to JLR warranty should the inconceivable happen....

Has anyone with an aluminum lower pulley experienced annoying vibration or is this theoretical?

I have the Eurotoys aluminium lower pulley and no vibration at all.
If anything it's smoother than stock!

Same here. No additional vibration, plus the advantage of being 6+ pounds lighter than the steel pulley.

Just for anyone who is following this thread - we have announced a $150 price reduction as well as the introduction of the 'correct' double sided v-belt for an OEM look, and a faster and easier installation.
