Default Lowering Seats

Before I decided on the F-Type I was looking at a Miata. I am 6'2" and way too tall for that car, but since I was considering it I found there was a way to change out the seat brackets and lower the entire assembly by somewhere between 1 and 2 inches.

Has anyone heard of anything similar for the F-Type? I've been trying to look at the technical drawings to get an idea if this is possible. I would really love if I could even move it down half an inch. In fact, with the sport seats, the padding in the lower part of the headrest starts a bit low for me, and it would be nice if the seatback could stay the same height, but the seat bottom lowered an inch or so.

You shouldnt need to. Im 6'9" 230 lbs, and I fit well enough. Obviously all things are relative, worse than my M3, better than the Viper I wanted.

I agree with the headrest padding, its the one thing I wish I could change. But still not worth it for aftermarkets.

Ive searched for what you are searching for, but I have not seen anyone do the seat lowering via kit or otherwise. Your best bet would be aftermarket seats full swap.

Yeah this is def a passive interest. I fit, but it would be nice if I had a bit more room, if I sit up straight I have maybe a 1/2" of headroom at most

Well something isnt adding up, because thats about how much headroom I have in my '15 R Coupe.. Are you sure its already lowered all the way? I had to move my seat forward, move the back forward, then lower the seat, then move seat backwards all the way, then move the back of the seat all the way back.

To get the seat lower, you need to move it forward a little, then lower, then back. My buddy who is 6'7" played with the setting for about 30 seconds and got it so he could fit with room to spare. I got in afterwards and I'm only 5'11", but there was a whole lot of space up there. It also gave more room between the legs and the dash.

Agreed, I actually posted a question to this forum a few months ago, shortly before I took delivery of my F-Type, as to whether or not there were any "tall" drivers of F-Types. I received a great many responses from members taller than I (6' 2") who said they simply played around with the seat and even the 6'9" gentleman found a perfect position. Forum poster "Dwight Frye" taught me a "trick": You have to "goose" the seat base controls rather than hold it. For some reason, if you hold it, and surpass some fixed point, it will auto-return to a higher position, but if you "goose" it, it will keep going down without the auto-return. Then when you find your spot, be sure to Memory save the position and it will keep that position and return to it without further adjustment necessary. My only wish is that these seats has the massage feature that my XJL does...dear God, I love it so.

I'll have to try the goose method lol. I did play with it quite a bit and have found a mostly comfy spot, but I will try out these tips and see what I can do. Right now the car is in for maintenance so I'll give it a go once I have it back.

I will concur that I was able to get my seat lower and to fit me (6'4") much better by both tapping it down it short bursts, and by sliding it forward before lowering it.

The one caution I have is regarding the little jacket hook that's behind the seat on mine, for which there is a little notch cut out in the back of the seat. Getting my seat properly in low position ended up pulling the rubber cover off that hook and tearing it, so you might keep a better eye on it than I did.
